    245 Bridge

Looking at the bridges on Hwy's H & Y they can't be far behind.
  2. Crappie are getting busy and fairly easy to find. Seem to move in and out some but stay with'em. S/M's, jigs different colors for different stretches of the same bank. Most in 6' to 10' of water. Some close to the bank but the bigger crappie seem to be further out yet. 2 limits of crappie and 2 legal wally's out of 5 caught. Slow on the retrieve seem to be the best for us. No paint left on the jig heads. I was also lucky enough to catch most of the trash fish yesterday including about a 10# turtle. Have fun and remember it's a big big lake so give everyone a little elbow room.
  3. Went up into Sons Creek first and had a nice 11-1/2" black crappie first cast, then nothing. So headed back to Big Sac where we found the wally's last week. Nothing there but further back in the cove we found the crappie were wanting to come to the bank. We brought 18 home along with a wally. Caught way more crappie that were 9-1/2" to 9-3/4" than we brought home. Most kept were running 11" and all but 2 were males. Had 2 other short wally's and of course the inevitable drum. One really nice smallmouth that flipped the hook right at the boat and a couple of whites. Little wind but without it was making up to be a miserable hot day. I understand lots of crappie coming from Aldrich area after dark. Used jigs and s/m's of course
  4. for me it's just about right. visibility a couple of feet, just a tad dingy. Starting to get oak pollen on the water
  5. Hey Hunter!!! Haven't talked to you in a while. We're heading back tomorrow and see if we can find some more of the wally's. Not sure why they're holding so far off the bank but works for me. BB was up in Sons Creek one day last week but found it hard to get past the black bass.
  6. Few more people out than Monday and water was running about a degree cooler, but was back up to 60* by late afternoon. Lots of small blacks over in Sons so headed up to Big Sac and run into pretty much the same thing. Did find some wally's late afternoon, 7 with 2 being legal, largest was 19" . One of the shorts squirted his milk all over the boat. 3 crappie with only 1 legal and they were all very lite colored. Jigs and swimming minnows. 14' to 16' of water about 40'off the bank
  7. Fianlly got back down yesteray. Water was running 47* to 53* depending where you were. 1- short wally and 1-20" wally 2-keeper crappie and several whites which we threw back. Not nearly as many blacks this trip and the ones we did catch were small. Caught most of the whites up in Beaver and you needed to throw your jig or s/m right to the bank and they'd hit it about a foot out. Probably be heading back to Stockton next week.
  8. Guess I'm turning into a real fair weather fisherman. Like to have froze my butt off Friday. Noticed on the truck as we were driving down that the temp dropped 4* after the cloud bank rolled in just past Ozark to the turnoff. The wind was rough but we stuck it out most of the day and left about 5pm Graphed alot of fish but few takers. Did get into some blacks that afternoon, most running in the 12" to 14" range on shinners again. Finally caught a keeper crappie just as the sun come out and we thought maybe they might start biting. But a couple of minutes later a Beaver came up about 10' from the boat and we all saw each other about the same time. Was about like a ton of dynamite going off and we never had another bite after that. We've got Beavers here at the house but I've never saw one--anywhere-- as big as that one. What you all feeding them down there anyway?? Might get in one or 2 more trips down there but will be time to head back to Stockon before long. Guy I fish with, Ralph, caught some crappie last week at Stockton so won't be long. Envy those of you that live down around Forsyth. Beautiful country!! If you all could get Modot to fix the hwy I might talk the wife into moving down there.
  9. Hoping water has warmed a little. Looking, always looking for wally's and crappie. Friend was down earlier this week and he did not do any good at all. We'll be in a Green Lund 1800 w/175 Merc give us a holler.
  10. Basics mostly. Just looked for places they could hang out with the current running and snag a meal going by. We fished both sides with some success but in the late afternoon we noticed they moved more out into the current getting ready to move up after dark I guess. Also as it got later into the day they wanted the shinners to be drifting with the current. If I had not been so stubborn and moved on earlier we probably would have ended up with a nice mess of crappie. Wish I could handle the cold better would really like to be there after dark.
  11. Noiced as we left the Beaver Creek ramp the water temp was 40* down 6* from our last trip. Headed to where we had fished before and still showing fish. Hooked a good crappie (about 12 fow) shortly after getting there but it released it's self at the boat. Caught a lot of short blacks and stayed there way too long. Finally moved off and got into a few crappie and lots of blacks later that afternoon. We had just 4 but they were 12" to 14" and I lost count of the blacks with one that was 14-1/2" These were all caught on shiners that we got at the (new ?) bait shop in Forsyth. The first were caught in about 10fow on the bottom but the rest were in 20fow about 6' down using the shinners and bobbers. As the sun started down the bite pretty much went with it.
  12. Heading down thursday and hoping they'll be running some water. Has anyone been fishing around there recently?? We were lucky enough to find some crappie just before the last rounds of weather hit and kept us home and they were shallow at that time.
  13. We made it down a couple of days last week and put in at Beaver. While we didn't catch many we did catch some crappie, perch and 1 short walley. First day we had a black crappie that probably went close to 2# and several large perch that must have just come up out of deeper water as light colored as they were. I think we ended up with about 10 crappie and 7 perch that were keepers in the 2 days. Not too many shorts. When the water quit moving the bite went too. The bite was so lite we missed many. We were dragging the bottom for the most part. We caught nothing deepr than 12' and some as shallow as 5'. Surprised us too. My graph was showing 45* and 46* but not sure how accurate it is.
