  1. I have one and that is what I do with all browns and big Rainbows I just can't seem to get them out of my Kodak easyshare program and into the post HELP???????
  2. # 1 abeerdeen and #1/0 abeerdeen.
  3. The Big Browns are biting extremely well this last two weeks with numerous browns being caught from 16 to 29 inches in length and two over thirty inches!! Best baits have been River minnows, shad and sculpins. The water has been running around the clock and the Lake is 8 feet above normal and still rising. The best water has been from White Hole too Rim Shoals especially on a rise. GOD Bless Hotdawg1
  4. I guided a Half day today with several good smallies and kentuckies caught on Hula grubs in Green pumpkin on jigheads and also Lucky Crafts shad colored. Most were in 5-15 feet of water and all had eggs in them. The lake surface temp has rose to 59-62 depending where you are. The whites are starting to hit well also.Good Luck and GOD Bless Hotdawg!
  5. WOW!! The big stripers are biting stickbaits at night on the lower Lake! I have seen pictures of FIVE over 40 pounds caught the last two nights with the largest at 47 pounds. Most are coming from the Oakland area.I will try to get some pics this week Hotdawg!
  6. This is the oxygen report and temp from three spots on the lower lake today!! Bull Shoals Oxyger 04-03-10.pdf
  7. Good luck Wildman and I was using 1/4 and 3/8 ounce jigheads on 8 pound flourocarbon line if that helps Hotdawg!
  8. Pat with all the rain and cold I would move out to the main lake and spoon off the bluff ends and try to target deep fish in th 35- 40 foot range. This is so far out of the norm weather wise that I think the fish are even tired of it lats year we already had 60-62 degree water and were having a blast with stick baits and lizards. Good luck Hotdawg!
  9. Well folks the White is on fire this week! The sowbug roundup has led to lots of low water and the Browns are eating up Shad, Sculpins and river slicks. I guided several days this past week and caught several Browns over 20 inches in length and at least a 80 fish a day. The best flies are caddis hatch and midges, and san-juan worms. We are having heavy rains and spitting snow today and the lake has risen to 654.64 so they will probably start to generate more. In western Arkansas they have had a foot of SNOW yes I said SNOW!!I have some pics also to post GOD Bless Hotdawg!
  10. The weather is just about as bad at this time of year as I can remember in my 35 years of guiding! This week we had extremely high winds with lake advisories and then two days of warm followed by now two days and nights of COLD rain and even some intermittent SNOW. I found 51 degree water Saturday morning and caught 9 fish on soft plastic (Hula grubs, and critter craws.) And had two more on wiggle wart crankbaits. About 4 oclock the rain started and hasn't let up since. The air temp has been from 30-36 degrees during all this rain so as bad as I hate to say it I feel the lake temp will plummett in the next day or so back to 38-40 degrees probably. They had a foot of snow in western Arkansas and this will be running into the lake for a couple of days at least. All my fish came half way back in the creek arms holding the boat in 20-25 feet of water with most bites in the 5 -15 foot range. Fish your bait slow and if you miss a bite throw back in and let it sit at the same spot and usually you can catch it on the second bite. Green pumpkin has been my best color on all my soft plastics. The weather has got to stay above 50 at night and warm up to the 60-70 degree range before we see any consistent patterns forming. GOD Bless and Good luck Hotdawg!
  11. Here are two seperate location temp and oxygen tables from lower Bull Shoals done by the Walleye Club Hotdawg! Bull Shoals Oxygen 03-15-10.pdf
  12. I was on the lake two days this last week and the cold weather returned for one day. On the plus side the surface temp has warmed a little and is now in the 49-50 degree range. The problem is it is only in the top 1-2 feet. The best baits for me are still Rattlin Rogues and soft plastic. With most fish in the 5- 15 foot depth range and close to some kind of cover. The weather is supposed to start warming on tuesday again with highs in the 60's and lows in the mid 40's. South winds will help to start a warming trend. I have seen several pictures of stripers in the 25 class at or near dark on stickbaits also.Good luck Hotdawg!!
  13. Well folks the White is still red hot for numbers and size. I guided the White on the upper end and at white hole this week and caught over 100 fish a day with anywhere from 7 to 13 browns caught up to 21 inches in length. The hot bait was shad for the browns and shad and nightcrawlers for the rainbows. We also caught several cutthroats up to 17 inches long. All Browns and cutts were released. The lake level is 653.74 with some periods of low water with 1 to 3 units on when the water is running. The hot flies have been shad imitations ,scuds, and san-juan worms.God Bless Hotdawg!!
  14. The lake temp is anywhere from 43 degrees to 52 in some spots. With the corps not geneating much only 2-5 units we won't see much more I would guess. The best thing to do is catch your own and freeze them in baggies 6 to a bag and use them dead it doesn't matter to the trout at all!! Good Luck Hotdawg!
  15. I guided on Bull Shoals two days last week both half days and I started after 11;00 a.m. both days. We caught our fish on several baits with sslloowww being the key. If you think something is different set the HOOK! The bite is extremely light. The good news is that we have had two nights in the 48 degree range and two days of 60 to 65 degree weather with warm rain in the forecast and warm temps all week. The key to better fishing is the warm nights. I had a thermometer with me and three feet down all the way to 80 feet it was 43.9 degrees and according to the walleye club it is that way all the way to 195 feet. Also I guided on the river and the water is extremely cold on the river right now and that means it is cold all the way to 115 feet where the intakes for the generators are. WE used stickbaits (Rattlin Rogues & Lucky Craft) and soft plastics ( Hula grubs,4 inch lizards, gitzits and grubs). Green pumpkin and root beer colors worked. We caught 15 - 20 fish each day with 3 keepers the first day and 5 keepers the second. We all get to chomping at the bit with the warm days but it will be probably a week or two before it gets better. GOOD Luck and GOD Bless Hotdawg!!
  16. Well finally the water is down somewhat on the White and the fishing has been Red Hot this week!!I had several trips out this week and they all caught over 100 fish a day with several browns a day in the 18-22 inch class. The rainbows are still spawning and some of the browns still have eggs in them also. They shut the water off on thursday between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The dam report has been saying anywhere from 2 units to 5 but the level is more like 1 or two units. The lake level is 654.16 and is steady right now. We had several days of sixty degree weather with warm nights about 48 degrees. The best bait was shad for the browns and sculpins. We are supposed to have rain this next week and warm temps so worms should start to come on as well. The best flies were egg patterns, scuds, midges, and san-juan worms. GOD Bless and Good luck Hotdawg!!
  17. Wildman, Yes I have numerous times over the years. It has a lot of great stucture and also is usually one of the creeks that if it is raining will have warm runoff in it. Also the fish if it turns cold pull back to the island instead of moving all the way out to the main lake. The water temps have warmed in the pats few days with warm nights in the 45-48 degree range. Daytime temps in the mid sixties with rain forecast. This will help the bite tremendously.Good luck Hotdawg!!
  18. I would like a 50-55 degree rain all day!!That would really help!
  19. Pat, thank you for the encouragement! As a lifelong guide I have always strived to help everyone to enjoy their time on the water and to help anyone that I can whether they are fishing with me or just on the water.Hope to see you out there sometime and if you see my boat come on over and say Hi!!GOD Bless Hotdawg!!
  20. Let me know the water temp if you can Thanks Hotdawg!!
  21. I will be giving a Walleye Seminar on March 11 at the Life Ministries Building at The lutheran Church street on North Street in Mt Home Arkansas at the Rod & Reel club meeting at 7:00 p.m. The topic will be types of lures, depths, and areas on the lake and times of year.Come out and see me and talk catching Hotdawg!!
  22. Wow this global warming is about to freeze me out!! The only good thing is the fishing has been Great on the White. The best baits are still Shad in the first three or four miles of the river then anything that looks like an egg is working. Generation has been at 2 - 7 units around the clock with the flow not being as heavy as the dam report is saying. There is some shad coming through at night just not very heavy. I guided on the Lake on Saturday and the lake temperature was steady at 42.8 degrees up to 43.9. I dropped a thermometer down to 45 feet and never got below 42.8 We will probably see some low water conditions soon but they are calling for rain on the weekend. The best flies are San-juan worms, shad imitations and olive wooly buggers.GOD Bless and see-ya on the water Hotdawg!
  23. Hi everybody I was out on the Lake on Saturday and we started at 10:30 and finished at about 2:30 it was a beautiful day with the temps at 39 when we started and 51 degrees when we stopped. We caught all our fish on two baits. The first was a American Shad Lucky Craft and a 3/8 ounce jighead with a green pumpkin black flake Gary Yamamoto Hula grub 5 inch on 8 pound flourocarbon line.We tried some deep fishing but did not have any luck. All our fish came in 5-10 feet of water 3/4 to all the way back in the creek arms.Water temps were all at or near 42.8 degrees up to 43.9. I dropped a temp gauage all the way to 45 feet and it was still at 42.8 degrees. The walleye club did a survey at the dam and it was the same all the way to 215 feet!! We need some warm nights and a warm rain or two. Generation is still around the clock on the river and the lake level is 653.91 Good Luck and GOD Bless Hotdawg!
