I fished the catch and release area from about seven thirty until one thirty. Things were slow to get going but turned on around eight. I do not have a catch count but it was easily 20 with multiple fish in the 18 inch range and at least one 20 inches plus. I also picked up one bonus fish, a hybrid bass. Flies of the morning were soft hackles, pheasant tail flash backs, san juans, red zebra midge, and white zonkers. At one thirty it was like someone flipped a switch and the fish turned off. After grabbing lunch I headed to the lower dam parking area and fished below the island. I landed several there on an egg pattern and a dry attractor fly with rubber legs. Once the sun came out with no cloud cover it was game over and things shut down completely. It was another great day on the Lower Illinois.
