  1. Hello guys and gals, Last year we tried a get together for all of the people here on Ozark Anglers.Things didn't work out for everyone and it just didn't fly. So lets try again!!!! I am wanting to hear everyones opinion on where they want to get together.Bennett Springs or Montauk or where ever we agree on.We just need to remember that a lot of us live on the east side of the state of MO. So let me know how you all feel about this. Thanks Rich
  2. Hey Larry, Hows it going? I am open to whatever everyone wants to do.It would be nice to get a dozen or so together for some fun and fishing.Weekdays, weekends I don't mind either way.Maybe we need to start a new thread so as not to confuse this as last years thread.I am ready to do some fishing!!!!! Talk at you soon Rich
  3. Ok people, It didn't work last year because of everybodys last minute plans. So, do any of you want to try again??? I'll be open to days, month, and which ever trout park you all wish.I prefer anywhere except Maramec Springs. Let me know how you all feel!!! Thanks Rich
  4. Hey Don, I'm sitting here trying to decide where I'm going in the morning. I bought a couple of furled leaders for my 3wt and my 5wt and I'm dying to get out to try them out.I may just run down to Montauk Saturday and somewhere else Sunday. The weather is going to be too good to just sit around the house. PM me your phone number and I'll call you when I figure out where I'm going. Take care Rich
  5. Yes!! I have a 3.5 meg service and it is about the same for me too.I know Phil probably isn't completly happy with it but as in anything else...speed costs money. The more advertising and more pics put on here the more it will slow the site down. I am happy with it like it is but, it would be a little nicer if it was somewhat faster.I don't fork out the money so I can't say too much so I'll just live with it. So Thanks for the great site Phil.I'm not going anywhere. Rich
  6. This is the prime reason that fishing should not be a competitive sport.Fishing is supposed to be something that is enjoyable and relaxing. I purposely stayed home because I knew this type of stuff would be going on.I fully intended on going Sunday only. If you want to compete then pick up a ball sport.Fishing is a past time not a sport. That is why I hate it when I hear people saying the term "sportsman".I don't want to be lumped into that catagory.Hunting is in the same boat. I truly hope that this was an isolated case.Where were the wardens? Maybe someone should have pointed the park ranger toward these lawbreakers.Sometimes its up to the law abiding people to make the scoff-laws adhere to the rules. I personally don't have a problem with the parks for fishing. Its the lack of respect for fellow fisherman and wildlife that ruin it for everyone. mcp, I'm sorry you had a bad day and I'm sorry your wife had to endure that type of behavior from what should be a respectable group of anglers. Oh well thats my .02 Rich
  7. Heck Guys!! I live right across the river in south St.Louis county near St.Anthonys hospital. If any of you want to split gas money some time let me know. The way gas is now days all the help the better.I may go down this Sunday morning cause I have to work Saturday.I have a Ranger extended cab built for 2 people really so I can't bring a whole crew. But, its better than footing the whole bill.I would go more often if it was cheaper. Take care yaalll Rich
  8. KicknBass, I started out at the spring and worked my way down stream to about half way to the spill way. Went to eat lunch and went back and fished my way from the spillway up to about halfway to the spring.I had a blast for fishing by myself. I usually end up that way cause all my friends consider trout fishing wine&cheese fishing.Oh well I don't mind. I probably walked by you somewhere along the way. I wanted to try below the concrete bridge but there were more people there than usual.I have pretty good luck in the riffles on dry flies. Rich
  9. Well I didn't make it Saturday so I went sunday instead.Fishing started off as always with a bang.By 9 am it was a little tuff. When I switched over to a zebra midge #20 I started picking up quite a few fish. I fished it right through the fish where ever they were in the water column. If you didn't put it under their nose they didn't seem to even notice it was there. Then at mid-day there was a hatch of something that resembled a light cahill in #20-22. I picked up half a doz or so on the dry.Seemed to be best when casting down stream from above the fish for some reason. Then at the last couple hours of fishing there was multiple hatches going on.Midges,Caddis, mosquitos and who knows what else. The air was thick with insects all thru the upper stream. Total I probably caught 25-30 fish.Thats not bad for me on the first day out during keep season. All in all it was a great day fishing even though the crowd was a little bigger than I am used to at Montauk. Take Care All.... Rich
  10. You may want to check further into that when you get there.I think its legal in 1 and 2. Stop at Weavers tackle and they can give you a definate answer.I've seen people fishing hoppers and nymphs in 1. I hope they were legal. Good luck Rich
  11. Just thought I'd head down and wet a line.If anyone is going look me up.I drive a white Ranger Edge with a Hoosier sticker in the back window of my truck.Maybe chat a little and do some fishin. Take care Rich
  12. I have a 2 piece 5wt series 1 9' that was used three times and is collecting dust. It still looks like new and virtually is. Asking $75.00 Contact me @ rjpdirtfan@hotmail.com I would also consider trading for a decent fly tying vise of equal value. I sent in the warranty card as I was planning on keeping this rod as a backup. I would be willing to meet someone at Bennett Springs or Montauk to complete the deal.If I have to ship it would probably cost about $7.50 Thanks for looking.... Rich
  13. Guys, I work in the automotive field and every tire shop I deal with recommends using Cooper tires.I am really hard on tires and I get close to 55-60,000 miles on mine on the Dicoverer A/T. If you want a tire a little quieter use the H/T version. They are way better than any Goodyear tire I ever used.Consumer reports ranked them third behind Michelin And Bridgestone. The big advantage is COST.They are nearly 35-40 dollars EACH cheaper.Customer satisfaction is just as high as Michelin. Rich
  14. Brit, You should try e-mailing Weavers to see if they know anything about dredging.I haven't heard anything but,you never know.Just some good water flow would do wonders down there now. Rich
  15. I'll be headed down Friday morning the 15th for one day of fishing. If anyone else will be there let me know. Rich
  16. You know, I usually never get in on this discussion. But after sitting thru Hunter Ed classes with a good friend I didn't really have a standpoint until recently. One of the chapters of hunter ed was about ethics. I didn't know that it was LEGAL to shoot a duck while swimming on the water.I didn't know that it was LEGAL to shoot a turkey on the roost.Ethics is defined as to how YOU see things as right or wrong.Although shooting a duck on water or shooting a big gobbler off the roost(Yet Legal)to me is wrong, some people don't see it that way. Unless there is some concrete law passed and enforced there will always be people that see things differently about shuffling.I think that we already have enough laws already to deal with. So who am I to police my piers on the water if it's not illegal? Shake your head, give them the cold shoulder, but don't be the ethics police and try to take it into your own hands.I may feel its wrong but, someone else may not.If they are breaking the Law, then by all means turn them in. JMO Rich
  17. Hey Guys, Just wanted to know if anyone is interested in a one day trip on Weds.I am on vaca till Thursday and wanted to get one more day on the water to keep some trout for the grill.Let me know.I'll be out hunting all day Tuesday but, I'll be back around 7 in the eve. Rich
  18. Don, I was pleased to meet you Sunday afternoon as well.I hope we can get together and do it again sometime. Today(9/25) I met Snow Fly at the pool parking lot. Nice fellow from not to far from my area.It was nice meeting a getting aquainted Snow fly.Hope we can make a trip somewhere in the future too. Today I fished Zones 1 and 2.From the springs on down to the first wing dam then went down to the shallow water below the bridge hole.I started out in the shallows below the bridge this morning and caught 20 or so fish on scuds in orange and olive colors.Orange bead head seemed to work best in a size 16.If the water would come up just a little it would be nice. But,I guess we have to deal with it. In the afternoon after the shadows started I did pretty well on the crackleback in a size 12 sulpher and chartruese size 12 also.Early evening there loooked to be a hatch of light cahills size 16-18 so I tied one on a did pretty well on that too. Line size really seemed critical fishing scuds and midges but not so much on the surface.6-7x was best for scuds. All in all I caught probably close to 45 fish Monday.I lost count at 37 and I went up to my truck at 6:15 p.m. and grabbed my stringer so I could take some fish home for one of my employees.Went back down and fished a crackleback dry in the really fast riffles and caught my limit before 7:00 p.m. and packed up and left. Don and Snow Fly its been a pleasure meeting you guys and I will look for you guys in the future. Take Care. Rich
  19. Don, I will be at Bennett Sunday afternoon around 2 o'clock.Look for my white Ranger Edge pickup parked on the little road as you cross the stone bridge it will be on your right hand side headed toward the concession store. If you won't be there Sunday look for me Monday morning too around 7 o'clock. I don't think we are going to do a cookout since its been wittled down to just a few of us.So I think we are going to go the the lodge and eat possibly. I will still be at the lot by the pool at 10:30 just in case some of the people didn't get the message. Rich
  20. Well..... Since it may only be a few of us.How do you all feel about just meeting and having breakfast or lunch at the lodge?? Maybe we can all plan a little farther in advance next time and pick another date that more people can make it.But,..like I said I will be there Sunday afternoon somewhere around 1 or 2 o'clock. Then I will be there all day Monday. Let me know how you all want to play it. Rich
  21. Wow!! Looks like you are all dropping like flies.I sure wish you all could make it.The weather looks like it's going to be awesome. So as of right now it looks like just 4 of us. Rich Oh!!! I forgot to tell you all ........I will be there Sunday afternoon too.I should be there somewhere around 2:00 o'clock.I usually park on the bluff hole road between the hatchery and the stream. I drive a white Ranger EDGE pick-up.If you see me there look me up. Rich
  22. Phil, Hopefully this is a good start and we can do it again. It's really nice to be able to put faces with screen names. Maybe one weekday on a Friday or Monday we could swing it this winter. Take care. Rich
  23. Wayne, We are going to meet at the swimming pool lot at 10:30a.m. .Then we will see where is best to go to cook.Hope to see you there. Rich
  24. Hello gonefishin, We will need some plastic utensils and paper plates. If you could do that that would be great. Rich
  25. Hello people, Its only one week till the gathering. Lets get a final count as to who will be there, and lets get some idea of who is bringing what. I have a small smokey joe grill and I can bring brats and hot dogs.Just let me have an idea of how many.We probably will need a couple more small grills or one big one.I'll also bring along a twenty pound bag of charcoal and starter as well. Lets get this rolling!!! I've been excited about this for 2 weeks now. Rich
