  1. Well Jerry, you are always welcome in my camp. Enjoy you trip and catch some fish.
  2. Jerry, The week that we go down on vacation it usually isn't too bad crowd wise. Some kids have already started back to school and other activities are under way to keep the big crowds down. Especially through the week days. Sure would be nice to have you down to fish with us.
  3. Don't worry about getting fish Pat. If we want to cook up some fish we can run to town and get some tilapia or white fish. A little Red Hot and some Andy's seasoning and it wil be just fine.
  4. Both times down this year with the new trailer it was pretty packed Wayne. Even on the week days it was pretty crowded back in early June. I'd be happy to be fishing a crowded trout stream right now instead of being stuck on this crappy job here in NC.
  5. I'm getting rid of the Z-Axis because I don't need a fourth rod. Now if you had an Abel Super4N in the brown trout pattern I may talk about that swap.
  6. You can also buy shade too Pat. Plus a 15,000 BTU a/c does wonders. When I get my spot in the RV park it will have 0 trees around it. No problem as I don't want to have to clean sap off of my junk all the time. Plus the only time I am at camp is when its NOT fishing time.
  7. Don't worry Jerry, there is no dumpster there. I reserved a spot for our annual vacation in CG#1 that has A tree. The newer section is pretty nice but doesn't have many shade trees. We will be down for a week, so if you are wanting to come down we will be there from the 22nd till the 28th. I'm sure there will be some extra food around for you if you're hungry. Maybe even a couple of soft drinks too.
  8. Just one, but it's next to the DUMPSTER.
  9. Britts, As you know technique is more important than what you are fishing to some degree. Many a time I will be hammering fish and give someone the exact same fly and tell them how to set it up and they have less success than I am having. Just goes to show how important your technique and and your ability to detect strikes is. My eyesight is faltering as I get older but I can still see the difference in the drift enough to pick up the strikes. I have no secret recipe or fly really, or spot for that matter. Just look for the fish and a good place to get a good drift with a good presentation. The green color stands pretty true though. The John Deere jig is a perfect example. It resembles nothing I can think of in the stream. But, it does really well. The white jigs and such simply resemble the gut hatch. You can't go wrong fishing scuds. Just find the right color and size and be patient enough to get the fish to bite it.
  10. There are no secret spots at Bennett. Having said that, get a good selection of flys from Larrys and hit the stream. If what you have on ain't working then change it up. You don't always have to change flys. Sometimes it's just how deep you are fishing or the type/size of your tippet. Learning what the fish want is one of the biggest parts of trout fishing. Going to the stream all rigged up with the go to set up all the time would get pretty boring.
  11. Wayne velveta was the alternative to mini marshmallows.
  12. Jerry, when I was a kid my grandma would take down to the Suzy hole on the rocks and cut mini marshmallows in half and dead drift them under a float with some split shot to get it down to the fish. Never failed her to catch a limit quicker than anyone else in the family. She was usually done before 8 o'clock a.m.
  13. The super 8 in Lebanon is pretty decent. The drive to the park will be less than the drive from Licking to Montauk. I would be making reservations pretty quick either way if you plan on going this weekend.
  14. I didn't make it down. Was a little under the weather. Sorry
  15. Not sure but, I'll let you know tomorrow night. I'm headed down for a day trip. From the looks on the trout cam it look a little off colored and a little up. Should be a good fishing day.
  16. Not sure Dad had enough time to catch that many fish. He spent a lot of time by the cooler. Drinking Coors before St. Louis had it available. Remember it like it was last month. Back when Bennett was bigger. LOL
  17. Oh!! I guess without pics it didn't happen. I bet I remember to take the camera from now on.
  18. Ok then. Too many people and too little fish. Too much wind. Had to fish the 5wt. Lots of trash in the water. Caught decent amount of fish every time I was on the stream. But you had to work for them. Camper was awesome. Can't wait to get it set up down there on my spot.
  19. I need to sell my used BAL single axle trailer leveler and BAL single axle tire chock. They are in great shape with the leveler stored in a pizza delivery bag. The chock is loose but it may fit in the bag too with it closed all the way in. I sold my pop-up and I no longer need these items. I can't seem to load pics on my iPad for some reason so just look it up on BAL's website. If you don't have one of these things you don't know what your missing. It is the only way to level and chock your single axle camper in my opinion. It makes it solid and stable for a better camping experience. $75.00 for the whole kit. PM me for more info if needed.
  20. Besides the state park itself?? Go across the 64 bridge and there are a couple of places that are on the river. If it is before floating season you should be OK. They can get kinda rowdy on the weekends during floating season. Myself I would just camp in the park. Decent showers and restrooms. CG #5 has a few primitive spots that have grass or soft groung to put a tent on.
  21. Well I will feel better about knowing under the tire covers I have shining new wheels. ; )>
  22. Yeah those will roll real good Pat.
  23. Pat, I'm pretty picky about certain things. I can't deal with odors well. Therefore no #2 in the camper. Same reason I'm buying an outdoor stove. There will be a facility close by for #2. Night trips just add to he excitement of outdoor camping. LOL it is still camping by the way. The mice thing is an issue I really worry about. No food for them or stuff to make a nest out of helps keep them away. Bounce sheets help too for some odd reason. My trailer does have that stuff covering the plumbing and tanks on the bottom. I'll look around under seats and anywhere else it looks like they can squeeze their way in. Glue traps and dryer sheets should take care of the biggest threats. I'm looking to buy some extended x-chocks soon to stabilize the camper too. I wish I could trade my chock and leveler I had for my pop-up for them somehow. Pizza bag included.
  24. Jerry I figure the less of the problems I create the less I have to deal with? So no poop ,no problems in this case. I will put hard pipe on the drain though. Trying to keep out the mice may be a difficult task too from what I hear. Glue traps and dryer sheets tucked into little crevices help the experienced say. No food left in the camper is a good way to keep the critters from wanting to be in there too. I will buy an outside stove to use too,so that should help also. I gotta get some tire covers to keep the sun from deteriorating the tires at a rapid rate. A picnic table is something else I need to get? Maybe I'll just get a patio dining set. All things to worry about sitting in a motel 13 hours from home.
  25. That was a couple years ago Mike. They were pretty thick too. You could toss anything about the size of the cicadas on top of the water ad catch a ton of fish. The hatch you are hearing about is east of MO from what understand. Seems like it happens every 13 years I think. Also they have a 17 year which I think may affect MO next year.
