  1. Thanks Skeeter. I am hoping to get out a few days next week...weather looks promising.
  2. I love high waters, because it means newly flooded shoreline brush for me to flip into. Glad you caught some fish.
  3. That's great. They should be finding the son anytime. The water patrol/search teams have been awesome.
  4. Lol new invasive species Flyguy?
  5. fishinwrench thanks for the laugh...you just turned around my rainy day
  6. Not sure, never tried...Already mentioned, but worth mentioning again, is James A Reed cons. area. Lots of lakes, and lots of good fish. Jacomo is good too, a tad bit over fished but good fishing. And not ghetto as has been stated. When I was with the Sheriff's office up there we would patrol the crap out of the park, and there is almost always a deputy somewhere in there. Just don't leave valuables in your car, which should go without saying anywhere.
  7. Sorry, should have specified that that was in my opinion the quickest way to get there from springfield. Obviously.
  8. fastest way...hwy 60 in springfield to highway 63 to 160 to Alton.
  9. Pony Express in St. Joe, and if you can drive an hour or so, Maple Leaf Lake in Higginsville. Both are jam full of fish and are relatively unfished.
  10. Funny story...in high school, we had a cinco de mayo party in spanish class, during which my buddy and I make some special ex-lax quesadillas for our teacher. Well we forgot to tell our other buddy, who eats 3 or 4 of the special quesadillas without us knowing. During our baseball game that night, our buddy who ate the quesadillas (the shortstop) runs into the dugout after an inning and tells us 2 that he just shat his pants out there on the field, and had to go empty out his britches in the middle of the game. Wasn't till the next day we figured out he ate the stuff and thats what happened. True story, you can't make that up.
  11. Take D north out of bolivar about 7 or 8 miles, hang left on RB/PP, and that road ends in the lake.
  12. Haha nope I have massive hands...MASSIVE!
  13. I had to head up to Kansas City this past weekend for a wedding, and the co-owner of my boat is at Lake of the Ozarks, so I headed to my buddy's pond to fish on Friday morning. Caught a bunch of fish, but this one was the nicest. Sorry I couldn't get a better pic but managing a big fish and a digital camera isn't easy, especially for a terrible multi-tasker such as myself. These pics don't quite do it justice. Caught it on a 10" power worm, green/red. My scale said 6.25#.
  14. Looks like your partner got so excited about that 5 pounder he had a little accident in his Levis haha
  15. Yeah, you would get tossed around pretty good in a 14 inch jonboat haha...My 14 FOOTER does just fine on calm days, I never feel endangered, always wearing PFD of course.
  16. So I've been bass fishing all my life, and I love fishing for bass in Stockton. I have been wanting to start going after crappie, and I've read a lot on this site about crappie fishing. Trouble is, I just can't seem to get it right. I've gone out a few times and haven't had the slightest bit of luck, even trying all of the tips I've picked up on OAF. Reading the reports of how other guys are doing, catching 20-30 fish ect... I figure even if I was doing something even remotely correct, I would catch maybe one crappie...but I just am having no luck. So, if any of you crappie fishermen out there want a fishing partner for a day, I would love to go out and have someone teach me a few things and show me how to catch crappie and use a fishfinder to locate them. I would pay for gas, lunch, whatever. My dad and I have booked a trip with Bob in may, and I'm sure to learn a few things then, but I'd like to catch some fish in the mean time too. So if you're going out anyways and have an extra seat you wouldn't mind filling, PM me. Thanks guys.
  17. Another question...I've heard how bad Stockton gets when it's windy. What makes Stockton worse than other lakes when it comes to windy/stormy conditions?
  18. Wanna take me fishing? I'll bring lunch! haha
  19. Any updates? I know it was windy again today and probably will be for the rest of the week. Is this hindering search efforts?
  20. Just saw on the news a father and his 8 year old son are missing on Stockton, they found their boat capsized with no sign of them. Better get to prayin folks.
  21. There are 2 (that I know of) on Jacomo where I fished in high school. I don't know of any on pomme or stockton.
  22. Yeah they can, I like to swim a white jig on sunny days over large flats, especially grass flats. My last 2 trips have been one-fish trips...hopefully things'll pick up soon haha
  23. First time in this forum, I spend most of my time on Stockton lake and on that forum, but I got a wild hair today and headed to Pomme for a couple hours. Put in at Bolivar Access, worked a few main points, caught one 14" LMB on a black jig in about 10 feet. Water was pretty stained as expected, water temp. 49.
  24. That sounds like a great idea. Always good to see a friendly face out there. I, however, am pretty easy to identify. Just look for the boat with the empty livewell and the irate captain spouting obscenities.
  25. Let's close this can of worms and move on. Please. Anyone want to go fishing wednesday or Thursday afternoon?
