  2. If you turn on the road on the south side of power plant and go that way they have painted the purple rings on the trees..... i was told that means no trespassing....we have walked down from the spillway and we got to a point where you have to cross a small water oulet and climb a hill and we got ran off...there was good fishing down there but I would check with Mo. conservation to see just how much the city utilities actually own.......my son in law and I got ran off of the water in an aluminum boat in the spillway area by the Securitas guard that works the employee entrance booth. He stopped traffic on the bridge and yelled for us to get off the water and then said that as long as he was ther he would not allow boats on the water.....I contacted Sharon Orenburgh with Mo,cons. and she went and talked to the city utilities and we were back on the water the next weekend....so it pays to check...Don't let some utility worker drive you out of his "honey Hole " because he says you can't be there
  3. it's almost worth looking into a small boat ( aluminum , inflateable, kayak...whatever )i moved out here 3 years ago and the first thing i did was buy a bass boat ( 18 ft Skeeter ) used it alot at Table Rock and had lots of fun no doubt.....I live right across the street from the Finnley in Ozark and after really getting out ther and fishing it and in the park area around the private docks and catching bigger ,and more variety of bass than we did at the lake we now have 2 aluminum boats and sad to say the Skeeter sits....alot. From the area behind the old Jeep dealership to the 65 bridge is crazy with smallmouth.I would think that with a float tube you may do more carrying of that tube than floating. I lift the trolling motor quite a bit to keep from dragging and usually I will walk the boat back upstream as far as I can if we are not being picked up downstream. Not only is it good for the Finnley but Springfield the float from Shelvin Rock to Hooten Town, McOrd Bend and Blunk at Galena. They are all close and lots of fun with good fishing and no time restrictions from rentals.I brought my belly boat out here from Colorado and used it once and do not miss it at all.........plus you can use electric trolling motor at Fellows
  4. I moved here 3 years ago and everyone told me the same thing" don't eat fish out of Springfield"... My son in law has cuaght several 8-12 pound flathead out of the spillway and I myself just recently ( when it was about 18 degrees out) caught a 16.5 channel and more bass and walleye than I ever caught in Colorado....I love eating catfish and more than that I love watching my son inlaw catch big ol' flatties just do to the fact that he doesn't eat fish.....if they think the waters here are that bad then you all need to stay away from Coors beer.... if if you saw the river that flows through Golden before it hits the brewery you would all be filling your canteens with Springfield lake water..........if anyone seriuosly thiks that all those lead weights are still at the bottom of the spillway then you need to really think about the time when thr water is halfway up the sidewalk and your throwing 3 oz egg sinkers and still have no luck in keeping your line anywhere near the spot you cast.. Just my opinion but if the high waters can carry a full size trash dumpster ( full of trash ) and deposit it on one of the inlets of the Finley River in Ozark park then I would have to say that it probably gets cleaned out pretty good ( not that that makes it any better for the waters that are downstream from Springfield but if everyone would make the effort to pick up all of thier stuff before they leave it would help ) I fill the front of my aluminum boat with stuff from the spillway almost every time i go out.
  5. I have two Aluminum boats and electric trolling motors with batteries for each that I use at Springfield and on the Finley in Ozark that I would be willing to rent out for use if anyone is interested in getting to spots the have never tried before..both are 14 foot with plenty of room and are water worthy......they are by no means fast or speedy but I have taken them to places where I have always wanted to try my luck and it was worth it....I will bring the boat to either location and have fully charged batteries trolling motor and two flotation devices the rest is up to you. I can provide an anchor if one is wanted ( cinder block and rope works best in the spillway area ) just let me know... I fish these places at least 4-5 times a week and always hear from everyone there that they would like to get out there and fish the wall or even just not be crowded on the bank or just float around and have a few "grown up sodas " I am not trying to sell anything or rip anyone off I am just offering the use of an aluminum boat if you would like to try it ......I don't have any kind of set price just let me know how long and when you want to go out and we'll go from there.........Cell# 417-576-4161 no late night calls please...if you want to use one at night for catfishing lets arrange the time beforehand..........Thanks
