Was wondering if anyone has caught any trout around the Empire Park Area or Rockaway?

It is hard to understand why the officials at Montauk choose to let the stream and banks become such a mess. I was up on Saturday and the grass/weeds on the bank are head high and then the moss has taken the water, either floating or growing form the bottom. From what I heard this is what the naturalist want and I think that is great. Just glad I live in the U.S. and have the freedom of choice, I will not go back. This must also be the feelings of many more because there was very few people at the park for a Saturday morning..Keep up the good work Montauk Management!

Put in at the railroad bridge about 2:30 motored up to Monkey's Island. Water running just right for slow drift. Drifted powerbait down past landing and had a nice limit. Great day for lazy fishing!

Put in at Branson Campground at about 7am, and loaded out at 9am. Fished Monkey Island down to the bridges. Just enough water running to make nice drifting. Got 3 on silver blade blue fox spinner and picked up a limit of stockers on salmon peach power bait.. great time never seen another boat.

I was a lifetime stren user until I tried this TROUT S.O.S. by Leland's Lures. I use 2 lb. test and I only fish the small jigs, spinners, or bait with it. I have had less ball ups and it works good in the cold weather as well as the hot weather. And may I add the price is right, less than 5 bucks for 350 yards. I agree with all, keeping a close watch on the knot and spool loops is critical no matter what your line preference is going to be.

Just wondering if anyone is catching trout from Rockaway down to the dam? I like fishing this area when I fish, but rarely see any reports for this area.
