Thanks for the advice...got the motor working. Except for one thing, it won't go in neutral or reverse. Any one have any advice?

So my roomate and I got a new boat the other day for about 200 dollars. The thing is the motor doesn't work on it. It's a 85 hp engine. It's a 1976 Johnson motor. Does anyone know where I can get a decent motor, manual to fix the old one, or somewhere to repair it for really cheap. If buying another motor...then I need one that's about a 40 hp. Thanks
