Hey Solus,
Assuming drum and carp hang out in the same areas, there where TOOOONS of carp on the little niangua today (MM 8 I think) all the way up the little niangua where the creek gets shallow enough to wade and there's grass growin. I never seen so many carp in my life.
Caught a few good fish today on the Little Niangua. Fished a Black/Blue Jig and a purple worm. Sight fishing right now is easy, I looked at more 4+ lb fish today than I've seen in a long time, but the challenge is getting them to bite without spookin em. I'd say throw dark plastics, worm or lizard, or a jig if you feel like it.
One of the guys at the ramp said crankbait was hot last week but it just turned off before the weekend hit. FWIW. .
well, I haven't been up there at all this week, but I'm sure I'll see you at the lake tomorrow, good luck! (unless your fishing the same tourney as me, then just ok luck.)
I had the same experience this weekend. The spots have been very common this spring for me and the small male story has been causin me fits for weekends..
Boy! That must have been fun to catch! My fishin buddy did a trip a couple years ago to Lake Erie and he said they trolled some green spoons (or something like that) on flats, does that method hold true down here too?
I don't know about "prolific" but, I've had luck in the grand glaize in shady coves with lots of trash, close to deep water. A lot of times it seemed like gar where around when we caught drum.
If you figure it out, let me know, they ARE fun to catch.
Weirdest thing happened yesterday... we were pre-fishing for a bass tournament and I hooked into a 3+ lb walleye... I had heard walleye where in the lake, but I definitely didn't expect to catch one in 3 ft of water in the Grand Glaize in April... today my partner caught one the same size...
There must be a good population of walleye in the lake. Any of you know anything about targeting them?
