  1. I ran the Niangua yesterday, little niangua was really muddy. Big Niangua not so bad. By the end of Saturday the Grand Glaize was getting muddy too.
  2. You'll probably be in the same one I'm in. Should be a good turnout!
  3. Hey Solus, Assuming drum and carp hang out in the same areas, there where TOOOONS of carp on the little niangua today (MM 8 I think) all the way up the little niangua where the creek gets shallow enough to wade and there's grass growin. I never seen so many carp in my life.
  4. Caught a few good fish today on the Little Niangua. Fished a Black/Blue Jig and a purple worm. Sight fishing right now is easy, I looked at more 4+ lb fish today than I've seen in a long time, but the challenge is getting them to bite without spookin em. I'd say throw dark plastics, worm or lizard, or a jig if you feel like it. One of the guys at the ramp said crankbait was hot last week but it just turned off before the weekend hit. FWIW. .
  5. Sure, but my wife is making me sell my motorcycles so I'm in the same boat (no pun intended).
  6. well, I haven't been up there at all this week, but I'm sure I'll see you at the lake tomorrow, good luck! (unless your fishing the same tourney as me, then just ok luck.)
  7. I had the same experience this weekend. The spots have been very common this spring for me and the small male story has been causin me fits for weekends..
  8. Thanks for the info RM, I'll be sure to try it out!
  9. Boy! That must have been fun to catch! My fishin buddy did a trip a couple years ago to Lake Erie and he said they trolled some green spoons (or something like that) on flats, does that method hold true down here too?
  10. I don't know about "prolific" but, I've had luck in the grand glaize in shady coves with lots of trash, close to deep water. A lot of times it seemed like gar where around when we caught drum. If you figure it out, let me know, they ARE fun to catch.
  11. Weirdest thing happened yesterday... we were pre-fishing for a bass tournament and I hooked into a 3+ lb walleye... I had heard walleye where in the lake, but I definitely didn't expect to catch one in 3 ft of water in the Grand Glaize in April... today my partner caught one the same size... There must be a good population of walleye in the lake. Any of you know anything about targeting them?
  12. I'm pretty sure he was throwin a Megabass Jerkbait. Not sure what the color name is, it's brown/white with an orange belly.
  13. Well, musta figured it out a little bit. My buddy caught another big bass today. It'll be my turn soon. haha...
  14. You guys ain't gonna believe it, but he caught a 9.8lb bass today again...
  15. HA! That was my buddy Jeff's fish, I was just takin pictures!
  16. Wow, that sounds like a blast.. I was thinkin that a real big white bass would probably be like wrestlin a 5lb bluegill... I'm definitely gonna give that a shot this summer! Seems like anything that looks like a shad that you can drag through or around those bait balls will draw em. I'd heard a couple people say that about white bass being fishy too, but I don't remember the last time I had fish I didn't like, even giant catfish which some people don't like either. .
  17. I've never done this personally, but I've been told that if you get some nylon rope, and fray the end, and whip it on top of the water (like a fly rod) they'll bite at it and get their teeth tangled up in the rope, so you can drag em in. I snagged one on accident the other day, and almost lost an expensive lure.
  18. Yeah, to eat em. Seems like the MDC views em as pest fish looking at the regulations (no minimum size, 15 per angler) and they are a ton of fun to catch! I hooked up with a white bass that was 1 1/2lb and I thought I had a 5 lb bass on the line!
  19. Went out Saturday morning intent on fishing crappie. Unfortunately, got to the bait shop and they ran out of minnows by 7am. I was pretty bummed out, but we went up anyway, just thought I'd use jigs. We couldn't get bit on a jig to save our life. I quickly gave up crappie fishin and we started targeting bass. (Grand Glaize) Found the bass already halfway back in the coves. Mostly around baitfish near deeper water (20ft) I hooked one keeper sized largemouth but he got away, then a few minutes later I had my biggest fish of the day, a 4 1/2 lber. Around 2 o'clock the fish really turned on and I started throwin a sexy shad KVD red eye rattltrap. We probably caught 20 white bass in the matter of an hour or two. To top it all, my buddy drags in a 9.5 lb Largemouth.... I could strangle that guy sometimes! Anyway, it was the largest bass I've personally seen pulled out of that lake, and a good deal bigger than my biggest.. caught on a megabass jerkbait. We took pictures and released the biggest bass. Anyone ever tried white bass? They seem to be easy enough to catch once they're on.
  20. Hey guys, checkin in for the first time here. I live in Richland MO and do a lot of fishing up at Lake of the Ozarks, and try to get to Truman, Pomme and the river every now and then too. . . Mostly bass fishin, but I like fishin crappie and catfish too. Hope to learn a few things here! Lake of the Ozarks is one tough lake sometimes! Jarrett
