Seth, I agree with the deeper water. The slips we were fishing were anywhere from 8' to 15' where we caught fish. Today after the sun came out and warmed things made a difference. We caught more keepers today.

Well I'm jumping out of my comfort zone. My better half and I were scheduling a trip to Bennett the first week of April. She suggested we split the trip and go to another area. She recommended we go to Bull Shoals State Park and I can explored the White River. Have always wanted to go down there but never put the big boys panties on and just did it. Well looks like we will. If someone could point me in the right direction for wade fishing I would appreciate it. If someone was asking me about Bennett I could give them a lengthy dialogue on what to use, where to fish and how to fish it. I have been fly fishing most of my 50+ year life. And have been tying my own fly's for the past 10 years or so. I will entertain any suggestions. Thanks

If they are sipping not really tearing it up on the surface try a size 22 and smaller black or olive colored emerger. If that doesn't work get a size 24-28 Griffiths Gnat. Size 7 or 8x tippet.

Just realized what you said, it's because you are "freeballing"!

I use a braided leader (http://thesimontons.com/Fishinggear.html) with the tippet ring. I use a clinch knot to secure the tippet to the ring and a improved clinch to the fly. Sometimes I whip out the Davey knot. Just looked at their website and noticed that their operation is on hold, darn. Just remember to wet the fluorocarbon before synching it down.
