  1. Easy big boy, don't be busting my fella's. Your the one that is unavailable all the time and I don't diss you!! Tell Bro' the challenge is on! I'll try not to make him look too bad. Already have a couple dozen ready to go for you, but don't give any to your smack talking brother!! Keep the Captain at home it gives me a headache!!
  2. Might be too late for me. I think School will start before that!!
  3. Thanks Mitch. My wife loved my dogs as much as I have. Plus my kids. My youngest daughter just came home from college which helped. My step son and oldest daughter are going to have problems. My son shot his first pheasant over junior when he was 16. I know that he won't take it well. Anyway life goes on and we get old!! Darn it!!
  4. Sorry hit send by mistake. He had prostrate issues. Long story short, that's 3 of the best pheasant dogs I've ever had in 9 months. Too much for a guy to handle. For those of you that knew my dogs and enjoyed them I say thanks for your appreciation!! RIP Biscuit, Dixie and Star's Junior Buckaroo "Junior" your family will you guys!!
  5. For those of you that know and have met me you know that I love my dogs. Well last last night was the last leg of my Brittany herd. I had to put Junior down last night. Came home from work and he couldn't get up. Made a trip to the vet hospital. They said he had a severe infection He was 15 and struggling with debatable health issues. However he was holding on and trying to make the best of our last few trout fishing trips together.
  6. Roger that Rich. Been flirting with paying for a place to store the trailer so I don't have to pull it down. When I did the math, monthly rent and driving the truck down vs pulling it every time ends up being a wash. I just have to suck up and work more off duty. With all that OT your getting I'm suprised your complaining$$. Doesn't look like the wife and I will be going to see the kids in Idaho so I will have some time to burn. Figured out that Taney is about the same distance for me as BSSP. Will hopefully split my trips between the two. Would like to hit Monauk again but that pull between Lebanon and Licking is a bugger with the trailer. Hit me with a txt if you figure out what your schedule is. I'm hoping I can get away frequently. Pat
  7. Hey guys, Cousin and I are headed down Thursday afternoon till Monday. Will be in CG5 most likely. Just look for the Wildwood.
  8. Nice, was down last week and tried the soft hackle to no avail. Couple of questions, which soft hackle and do you use full sink line at all??
  9. Recently made a trip to TSP to do a little fishing and catch a show at Branson with the DW. She isn't much of a camper but being the trooper that she is, agreed to go. Not long after arriving while I was setting up the trailer, she took our OLD dog for a walk (on a leash mind you) so he could attempt to do some business. Apparently the OLD fellow managed to squeeze out a small unit in a grassy area. My DW not knowing there was a "no do do rule" started to move on when the CG host jumped all over her. My wife isn't a confrontational person and was taken aback by his abrupt behaviour. She brought the pooch back all upset and grabbed a bag to go get his waste. I could see she was not doing well and asked what was wrong. She was reluctant to tell me (I tend to get upset when someone is RUDE to my wife) but told me about the incident. I promised not to confront the CG about it but wished I had at this point. We realize people don't like dog do do on their shoes and willingly comply with CG rules. But this guy was a total butt. What ever happened to "greating's neighbor, and btw did you know we pick up after our animals?" I camp many times at Missouri State Parks and have only had a 1 other bad experience. At this point I think my next contact will be with MDNR management to voice my concerns. Just venting. But if you do camp at TSP be sure to "scoop your Poop" because this particular CG Host doesn't know how to be diplomatic if you don't!!
  10. Have fun. Wife and I are headed to Taney Tuesday for our spring break. First for me. Will see how it goes!!
  11. Had an offer. Attorney friend had a cabin up by the spring for a couple of days. Just too much stuff still going on up here at home. The way things are going this year might be a bust for me again.
  12. Plus it is live streaming. Actually I think I see "NoLuck" sliding down the spillway!!
  13. Awesome video. Cant wait to get down there tomorrow PM. In regards to the 2 older gentlemen on the bench The fellow on the right is Jay Reynolds. He is a local resident within a rocks throw of the spring. Jay has come up with some crazy emerger patterns over the years. Jay has taught me a lot of new stuff. The other fellow I have talked with but don't recall his name. That is the most moving part to me because of the brotherhood that BSSP has brought to me. See u guys tomorrow afternoon.
  14. Thanks ksbass. Don't really care at this point how cold it is. Just to get out on the water with no schedule would be nice. Rich, will let you know if it pans out... nice pic! Really would like one of the swat team taking you guys down though!!
  15. My fall fishing has been cut short this year due to mom's battle with cancer. After all the radiation and Chimo I may have a window of opportunity after Christmas. I've been so busy that I haven't even been lurking on this site. Was wondering if CG1 is open again this year for Catch and Release campers??
  16. That be me Rich!! I think we were setting around drinking a couple swapping stories!! My flame went out a bunch of years ago!! Maybe after getting called into the Captain's office for the 50th time.
  17. gwh, Good to hear they cut this past week. I was down the previous weekend and did ok. Using NoLuck's (secret weapon) proved fairly successful. However no one has the touch that Rich does!! My buddy and his son were using the normal "gut" fishing techniques and out catching me up by the spring. They finally switched to a peacock hurl mini-jig 1/80th and was killing them on it. I spent some time on the island Sunday morning and watched another fello hammer em. I was unable to figure out what he was using. I turned several on NoLuck's unit. Had one almost to hand that would go a good 2# but my size 16 2499spbl didn't get enough penetration. Spent the afternoon Sunday in zone 2. Again using "NoLuck's Unit". Did very well, and again had anthor one that was well over 3# but utilized a long distance release technique that I have perfected. Headed back today with the boss. She picked 2 weekends back to back but only could do one. We will see what happens with the weather change. Pat
  18. Headed down in a couple hours. Will try and text you some pics of some hogs!!
  19. Thanks FFF, EM and Troy hooked me up. Have several on the way!! I really like the price!!
  20. Truth was known you probably scooped him up with that huge wide mouth net!! And have the nads to send me a text picture. Stuck home with a wife that has a sinus infection. Ok just wait!!!!
  21. Thanks for the pic. That area definately needs something other than a rake drug concrete mess. Looks like the hole in the corner will be gone though!!
  22. That is an interesting article. Couple questions; How close to the water are they planning on putting this project? And what are they going to do with the money if they do not reach $45,000.00? I'm concerned that they are going to make BSSP look like Roaring River. Down at RR it is a concrete jungle. It doesn't look very natural at all compared to BSSP. I know I'm not in Idaho or Montana but it's close. I'm also curious about the location. If they give the pedestrians closer access to the water that is going to cause problems on the backcast for fly fishermen. Right now all we have to deal with are uneducated people that meander behind us. Just thinking!!
  23. Not too bad. Looks like zone 2. I've got several pics I took Sunday down from the "blue hole" (where the new pipe is) in zone 2. Makes a differance if the sun is not shaded. Kevin, I tried both of the videos in my trailer last night on my Jensen. Only one worked I will try the other one on my MAC. Rich, what is the website for the guy and his daughter making the furled leaders?? If you have it on your phone just text me. Headed down next weekend of the 9th and again on the 16th. Wife wants some peace and quiet to do some work. Pat
  24. Very familiar with that one Gavin!! In fact it has been one of my "secret" weapons in the past. Haven't had very good luck with it lately. A local at BSSP gave me one several years ago. I was amazed at the size but it does work!! That olive hurl is the ticket (hint, hint).
  25. FFF, I use full sink line with a braided leader and swivel, then a 6x fluorocarbon (sp?) tippet about 48" long. I think the sink rate of the line is 3.5 inches per second or something. It is heavy, hense the need for ibuprofen. My previous line wasn't as heavy and easier to deal with. When this one wears out I will go with one that you add to your line (loop to loop). Much easier to present and manage. Full sink is difficult to manage but when you are challenged in casting like me then it is double trouble.
