I am planning a trip to the buffalo for the end of May. The last trip we made was in March 2008 and we went from Steel Creek to Gilbert. The river was moving quick and we didn't have much luck with the fish. This year I am planning to go from Ozark to Gilbert to have more time to relax (can I even start that far up river this time of year).
My question is about where and how to fish on the river. I am form south Louisiana and I don't have much experience fishing in rivers like the buffalo. What type of bait do ya'll have the best luck with and what methods (fishing by rocks in a swift current or still pools in the river) do you find works best. We are also going to be bringing some yo-yo reels to see if we can catch some catfish at night. Does anyone have any suggestions on bait for the yo-yo reels. I know this is a stupid question but is there any special fishing license that we need to get besides the normal license.
I was also wondering on the average temperatures there for the end of May. I am expecting around low 80's for the day and maybe in the 60's at night. I know a front could come through and it could get cold at night, but should i expect anything different from what I am expecting.
Thank you so much for any help, I know ya'll get this type of stuff all of the time.
