  1. Went on a float trip from Buzzards Bluff to "H" Highway bridge, on Monday Oct. 8th. The day the front came through, boy did we get soaked, even with rain coats. But boy did the large mouth bass bite. It was awesome, caught most of them on buzz baits, a few on plastic worms, and several on spinner baits. We caught 26 bass 12 inch and longer, I'm not use to throwing back that many would be keepers. We normally do good to get our limit on that float. I've no doubt that it was due to the front coming through. About 3/4 through the float there was this one crack of lighting, that was about this far from us, yeah my ears are still ringing. I didn't like that one bit, and was glad there were no more close cracks. We had the camcorder with us and filmed a nice 6 point buck swimming across the water, before it started raining. We seen 8 cotton mouths in the 3 holes below Buzzard Bluff, there is always allot of those snakes there, I guess due to the bluffs. Not a place for the faint of heart.
  2. Fished the Needles Eye hole today, water level was up, and a little cloudy. Caught a few on buzz bait, and plastic worm. The hot bait of the day was a blade runner. Caught a few smallies with it, large mouth, and goggle eye. We ended up the day with 7 bass, and 10 goggle eye. We missed several fish today, plus had one break my line, was fishing a plastic worm at the time. Sure they were calling for rain, and we got a little wet, but it sure beat working! Depending on the rain (And we will take all we can get), fishing should be great for this weekend.
  3. Our family uses Zanfel, it is sold at Wal-mart. It is very expensive, but it works. Very easy to apply, and it kills the itch. Normally takes about 1 week to dry up and go away. The last time we purchased Zanfel, we bought it off of E-bay, much cheaper their.
  4. A big Howdy from West Plains, its wonderful to live in the Ozarks!!! I found this site yesterday, a great site for anglers ! I own a business in West Plains, so I don't get to fish as much as I would like (everyday would be nice, or every other day), I go about once a month. I mainly fish the Gasconade between Hartville and Falcon. I was raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, I grew up fishing for trout. When I moved to Missouri in the 80's, I was introduced to sun pearch and black pearch and goggle eyes, and BASS, well I was hooked on Missouri stream fishing, and have loved it every since. I've enjoyed reading about the different baits everyone uses, which is completely different from what I use. I look forward to jumping in with my 2 cents worth now and again. John
