  1. Hi all, my cousin and I were out bass fishing the past couple days. I expected to do a lot better than we did. On Tuesday I got a few on a spinner bait jerk bait and a crank bait all of them came from the 5-10 foot range. One was pretty good size 5-6 pounds all others around 2-3 pounds. We got NOTHING on Wednesday at all. I thought they would be moving in the spawning areas. Am I too late or early? Water temps were between 54-60. I'm just curious if I'm doing something wrong or if it's tough for everyone right now Thanks for any advice or info. Greg
  2. Thanks everyone. Fishinwrench when I'm back in the LO area I'll give you a call. Thanks Greg
  3. I'm not in LO area at the time. I live in the STL area. I will be back there July 4th weekend and the weekend after that. Greg
  4. I guess water in gas is a possibility. When I come off plane the back of the boat does get wet and Im sure water gets into the fuel vent. I put new plugs in it. I will check them to see if I can see anything abnormal. I will also check the hub. Thanks Greg
  5. Hi everyone, I have a 1995 Mercury 150 EFI on a 1995 Cajun bass boat. The first time I had it out this season I made a long run on LOZ. On the long run the RPMs would surge at high engine speeds. If I lowered the RPMs below 4000 it would run smooth. I just had a chance to get back out this past Monday and Tuesday. On Monday morning it didn't want to start at all. It would turn over just fine but wouldn't fire. Once it did start it idled fine no problem. Im wondering if water got into it because of all the rain. We made a small run and it still surged in the high RPM range but no other problems. Things got worse on Tuesday. It started and idled just fine however it was very underpowered. At full throttle it was hard to even get it up on plane. While trying to get it up on plane it surge really bad from 3000 to 5000 RPM. It also used A LOT of gas. Any help or ideas would be great. If you need any other info please ask Ill try to provide as much as I can. Thanks Greg
  6. Thanks for the info and advice, I cant wait to get back out there and try it again. I'll let you guys know if I come up with anything.
  7. Hi Skinny, We usually fish between the dam and catrock, there is a creek by camp bagnell that we like to fish in so we can get out of the current. We are new at this and Im sure we are making all kinds of little mistakes. We are using 12-20lb. braided green line with a swivel on to our lures. We have all kinds of lures and plastic baits between the 2 of us, we just cant seem to get them to bite on anything. I've been doing as much reading and research that I can to try learn what works and what doesnt. I dont know when to fish on top or when to fish the bottom or what to use on top or the bottom. Thanks for all the help, Greg
  8. Thanks for the info. I have a few swimbaits, what type of string would you recommend for the river?
  9. Hey guys, just started fishing the river and need a little help. My cousin and I are new to river and bass fishing, we have been out a few times with no luck at all. We can find the fish (according to the fish finder) but we can get anything to bite. I've been using a few crankbaits, spinners, and plastic shad, minnows, and worms. Im starting to think its something we are doing wrong but I dont know what, maybe our rigs.... presentation.... I dont know. What works, what doesnt work? Any help or advice would be great. Thanks, Greg
