  1. I never did find a bait shop with suitable live bait for muskies. I ended up using a few blue gill as bait, but with no luck. With all the rules and regulations I would probably stick to lures. I'm starting to mellow out in my late twenties and not too keen on getting fined by some over zealous Barney Fife. The other problem with live bait is the complicated rig you should hang the live bait by. If you rig the bait wrong you could end up gut hooking a nice muskie that you have otherwise released unharmed. Just food for thought.
  2. I am looking to pick up some shad using my cast net. Any good times or places I should check out at Fellows Lake? Any tips would be appreciated. I am hoping to wrestle in a Muskie using my new custom live bait hook.
  3. Bass lures will work, but whatever you decide to throw for them you will want to make sure you are equipped with these at a minimum: 1. at least 35lb test superbraid line ( I use 80-100lb powerpro) 2. a leader (at least a 6" steel leader, if you get tired of the steel leaders kinking you can upgrade to a titanium leader) 3. you will need a very large long handled net or cradle 4. If you have never handled muskies, wear a fillet glove to avoid getting cut by all their teeth or their sharp gill plates 5. Go to muskyhunter.com and read through some of their forums for more useful info Some of the above may sound like a little much (especially the braided line, but the idea is these fish are wary and you won't have many opportunies to land one. SO when you get your rare chance you will want to make good on your opportunity. Good luck.
  4. Does the marina at Fellows Lake have winter hours or does it complete shut down in the winter months? Thanks All
  5. Hey Guys, I really want to fish Fellows lake at night for a few reasons, but mainly to beat the heat of the summer. What are my odds of success? Is it frowned upon? If so, is the lake frequently patrolled after dark? Who maintains the lake/who runs the security? Just a thought. Thanks for your opinion.
