  1. I was thinking that also, I have never had to much fun inside any of the parks.
  2. I'll be fishing flies...I look forward to it. Thanks.
  3. I am heading down next week for a day trip. I mentioned this earlier in another thread...anyways. I guess I never knew how big this area was so I guess my questions are... Is it worth spending some time in the C&R area? Is there good fishing above the park? Seems like everyone talks about below the park. If you had only a day to spend on the water down near the park (actually parking your car in the park area) where would you go? Thanks in advance, and happy fishing.
  4. Was it like the movie "Deleveriance?", I here that was based off of a true story, happened in southern MO, northern AK
  5. Should I take hwy 19 south from Cuba, or should I go to Rolla first then south?
  6. That was great. Thanks.
  7. Could you elaborate a bit...I don't hold my rod with my thumb on the top, I use my index finger. Maybe thats my problem?
  8. Solid advice, thanks.
  9. I live like 15 minute from there.
  10. I wasn't trying to imply that you would...but I am with you I am not going to let somone shoot me. I love the creeks and streams as well. Its got to be my favorite fishing by far, nothing is more satisfying than landing a lunker out of a knee deep Ozark stream. I fly fish mainly, but have been known to spincast. So this discussion begs the question: Is there anywhere in rual Missouri that isn't overrun with Methheads and crazy landowners?
  11. I never thought I would have to start packing a pistol with me...but I guess that time has come. I'm with you though...if confronted I would just be polite and leave, but if my life is put in jepordy that is somthing completely diffrent. I would bet my arse that its a meth producing scum bag...meth the mother of all dirt bags.
  12. I have always been a courteous, C&R, trash free angler...and have fished rural missouri all my life. I have never had a gun waved in my face, it just struck me as odd, that someone would be willing to take a life over somthing so silly. The guy must get his kicks out of it, he must sit and watch the river looking for his next target.
  13. Dude that is so messed up....What part where you on? Did the guy tell you why he was being such a dick? Did he think you where going to steal somthing? I just can't understand why people have to be so F'ed up, I could understand perhaps if you were deer poaching and had a rifle on you, or if you where growing pot on his land, or if you where suspected of stealing livestock.....but fishing in a stream???? Come ON!
  14. So true...Its sad but those are the people who ruin it for all and give us a bad name.
  15. Shot? WTF...
  16. I hope I am posting this in the right spot. Question: Who owns the streams in Missouri? Can I wade fish any stream as long as I stay in the water and not access it thru private ground? Is there a regulation or law I can read somewhere? Thanks
  17. Thanks for the info. I would love to talk conservation ethics.
  18. Ok now thats cool!
  19. Hey all, From what I understand this rig is suppose to work pretty good. 1. Take your normal knotless leader and starting from the butt end cut yourself a 3 foot section. 2. Attach your Thingamabobber to the end of this section with a surgeons knot. 3. Attach your tippet (whatever length you need) with another surgeons knot to the end just behind the Thingamabobber. Its suppose to get those nymphs down fast since the only part that sinks is the tippet material. I plan on trying it out on the Current next week...that is if there isn't a flash flood down there. Its been raining like heck out here in Sullivan for days. Has anyone ever tried this rig?
  20. Guys thanks, I found the answer on the MDC wedsite it reads: To possess trout, except in trout parks where a daily trout fishing tag is required. A Trout Permit is required for all winter fishing in trout parks and for all fishing year ‘round in Lake Taneycomo upstream from U.S. Highway 65 bridge. Must also have a fishing permit or qualify for an exemption. I looked there several times, guess I missed it. That website confuses me. Happy fishing
  21. I have fished in missouri all my life and have never even heard of a trout stamp until I found this forum. I must admit I only recently started to target trout. I am strictly catch and release, and have always had a fishing license. Do I need a trout stamp also?? And if so do you get them the same place you get your lic? Thanks
  22. That looks like the perfect set up. I mainly flyfish, would my 8.5 ft fly rod stick out if I was to place it behind me?
  23. 1. Never seem them. 2. I have used everything... yarn, putty, those foam footballs, toothpick things, stick ons...and nothing floats as good or cast as easy as the Thingamabobber. They may look goofy but man they get the job done. You could flaot an anvil under those things and it still wouln't sink.
  24. I somtimes get little knots in my leader after a few cast, I have no idea how the form. Could this be because i have poor casting mechanics or is this somthing that just happens every so often. It drives me nuts.
  25. Hey all, I have never fished the current outside of the park. Is the river wadeable or do you have to float it? I plan on making a day trip down there in the next couple of weeks. I rather not float. Thanks,
