  1. I second SongDog's services. Dan shuttled our truck from Snow to Yellville for a float last weekend. He was great to coordinate with via email and phone and provided plenty of good intel about float logistics and conditions. We rode out a rough storm at Georges Creek Friday night and got a call from him during the storm to ensure we were ok. He even swung by Saturday morning just to see how we were doing. Heck he also greeted us with coffee on Friday morning and won me over! FYI Dan did say he may start running some trips on the White next year as well.
  2. May have, 2 had 2 canoes, both pretty loaded down with gear. 14ft green sided and a 17ft metal gruman. We were at Kelly's Slab around 4pm.
  3. Trip Report better late than never. We launched at Lower Pyatt Thursday around 8pm. Ended up at Yellville Saturday right at sunset. Water seemed to be in perfect condition, maybe just a slight color to the water but still very clear. Floating was great, only had to get out and drag due to operator error a couple times. Fish were caught throughout the day, with topwater action and very nice fish being the highlight in the evening.
  4. Ha! Well I'm surprised you didn't just recommend I get my water wings and go to a waterpark in Branson!
  5. Defiantly a concern of ours. We plan to launch late Thurs for just enough time to find a spot to camp, so we really won't be floating/fishing until Friday morning. May hope is by then it'll settle down by then. I was a stud paddler..... 15 years ago;)
  6. I called Crooked Creek Canoe at 870-404-6054 and must have talked with Jimmy's wife. She was very accommodating for our upcoming trip this weekend. She also said she'll keep an eye on the creek and give me a call if it doesn't shape up for a good float for the weekend.
  7. Perfect, thanks guys. I'll give him a call and see about shuttles. Unless he really talks me out of it or we can't work shuttles out, I think we may go for it.
  8. I read on one of these threads someone said anything over 400cfs was asking for trouble. In studying the usgs data, I don't see how the flow will be below 400cfs next weekend... but if you were there at 353cfs and it was clear and good fishing, can 400-500cfs really be that bad? Heck I've never been good at stalking spooky fish so maybe a slight stain could play into my favor. Another question, any idea who shuttles on CC? I called Dally's and while they don't, they mentioned that maybe Copper Johns up on Bull Shoals may.
  9. Gotcha, good rule of thumb I'll start to consider. Still got a ways to go for CC at Kelly's, crossing my fingers that the storm moving through that area now doesn't dump too much water. Appears it may be a dry week ahead.
  10. budman - Any idea what the flow (cfs) was like when you floated Pyatt to Snow in April? I'm looking to do a CC float next weekend but struggling to get a good feel on what the gage and cfs should be at for a decent float.
  11. We saw a big family group with a jetboat setting up camp about a mile upstream of 133. Never saw them running the boat, just beached on the sandbar.
  12. Sounds like you had better luck than us. A few of my better (and by better I mean 12-13") fish came in the middle of the river out in the open as well. We had grand plans of waking up at first light every morning and hitting the topwater hard, but somehow we slept in too late every morning... I did throw a mini chatterbait a fair amount with no luck.
  13. Well we're back. Hit the water at Gnade Hills Thursday at 7pm. Great weather through Friday, Saturday got rather hot. We were hammock camping and ended up covering more mileage in search of a good spot Friday evening than we would have liked. Ended up at the Hwy 7 bridge Saturday at 6pm. Fishing was ok but far from the best I have experienced, topwater early and late, finesse jigs and shakey head worms during the day. Nothing bigger than 13" and I'd estimate about 10-15 fish per day for all 3 of us. Very quiet on the river and only saw a handful of people the entire trip.
  14. I think it was "$30 per canoe", not a bad business model, ha
  15. Plans set, launching @ Gasconade Hills Thursday afternoon. Floating to Hwy 7 Sunday. FWIW, They are charging $60 to haul 2 canoes and 3 guys from Hwy 7 back to their campground.
