Finally got a couple days off in a row from work on a weekend so some buddies and I took off to float the upper section of Flat Creek. Water was a little up but was still very clear. I started off fishing my go-to James River bait, a carolina rigged green pumpkinseed worm, and started catching some bass smaller than my worm haha. My buddy was using a smallmouth colored deep diver rapala and started pulling out some nice 12" plus smallies so I tied on something similar and started getting into some nicer fish. Between the two of us we prob caught 20 bass, some goggle-eye, mostly smallmouth. The biggest was caught by my buddy at a length of 13.5. Most of the fish caught were females stuffed with eggs in 3 to 5 feet of water. Water temp was still on the chilly side but i anticipate the spawn to start within a few days on that section of the river. All in all it was a very productive weekend and definalty well deserved.
This is my first post on this forum and am glad we have an online community dedicated to the greatest rivers and streams in the greatest state in the nation!
Thank You - Matt
