  1. I'm going to be interested to see what happens in the Everstart in early march. I'm planning on fishing as a co-angler and will have a rig in the box. I don't believe it will be won on the rig exclusively but I do think it'll play a major role with a few monster fish. I'm a little confused how flw can be a leader in conservation and sportsmanship and let this rig be allowed. At certain times of the year its going to be a rig or stay at home for example the shad spawn if you can get it within a foot of a dock that their spawning around it will be game over. I saw a quote from Jeff Kriet that I agree with."Allowing the rig is going to make an angler have two choices throw the rig or find a new occupation."
  2. The only thing I can say about all the technology is you Don't tie it on the end of your line so does it really help or is it more about confidence that your in the right area, by increasing the odds of one swimbait to five I am sure you're going to catch more fish its a simple fact. again I have competed in the statewide circuts out of my ranger with my x 135 graphs against guys with side imaging and hydrowave that never came in with fish is the A-rig going to change that I doubt it, is it going to make the sticks that are already handing it to me harder to beat, yes unless I get a rig and join the craze.
  3. I understand about family and that there are some great fisherman that one have a career that they love, two like to fish under their terms or when they want I've met a few people that don't fish tournaments at all and can catch huge bags of fish especially up at stockton for myself I have never been able to put the time, money thing toeghether have money no timeor vice versa. With as much time as those pro's spend on the water there are alot of anglers that could do some special things given the opportunity.
  4. First I don't know anyone that thinks its going to catch fish on every cast. Second the problem with it that I have is is the appearance of a school of slow moving bait. It simply increases the odds of fooling a fish playing on their natural instinct to ambush a ball of bait. I understand that all fishing is in its simplest form is fooling the fish. I think it takes the talent of fooling a bass to eat your lure completely out of it there by creating a playing field that makes locating the fish more important than having accurate casting, feel, technique that seperates the have's and the could have's. Ive been in the back of guy's boats that were all over the fish and didn't know because they couldn't get em to bite Heck Ive been there myself its frustrating but over the years I have developed things to do to make them bite not to the tune of the a-rig so now the ability to catch suspended fish is going to be undermined by a 5 lure rig were my 14 pounds used to be good in the fall will now be replaced by 18 pounds on the rig its only one big bite a day. It's frustrating that in the last ten years what I've learned about this lake when it gets tough is not going to be enough to compete with 5 lure at once.
  5. If your only turning 3000 rpms you might be running on five cylinders when I took my boat out first day after buying it it was hard to get to plane would only turn 3000 got back to the ramp pulled the cowling off and a plug wire was not fully connected plugged it in went back out and bam turn 5600 jumpin out of the hole twice as fast. Those 99 tr 20 were some of the fastest boats built by triton had a friend that had a 99 tr21 with 225 opti it was a 70+ mph boat your boat should turn closer to 6000 than 3000.
  6. If you want to get the best action out of your bait downsize your line first I throw 8 when its cold will go up to ten the closer to the spawn it gets. The cadence will vary day to day at Tablerock I fish it much faster than I do at lake of the ozarks. I know the water clarity being better the more flash the farther those fish will come to eat. I fish the shallow baits like pointer 100 or vision110 on six foot pistol grip medium bps crankin stick for the staysse's and deep diving pointers I use a 7 ft medium heavy crankin stick. Alot of the times at lake O your fishing around chunky points and isolated brush this lends itself to much longer pauses. For me I will soak the bait up to a min. if I know I'm right on top of a pile or a boulder. Some days its just the fish tightning up the line other time they try to pull the rod out of your hand. when the weather is crappy go throw that thing all day might not get alot of bites but there's is not much need for a measruing board. I know I'm ready today would be perfect down here on Tablerock for it.
  7. To qualify for the Elites an angler must finish in the top six of a division of the opens. The only way to qualify from the weekend series or the federation is to win the classic. I'm suprised that there are anglers that have the money, time and skill but lack desire. Skill and desire are the departments that most talented anglers are born with, money and time are hard to combine. Even of the local sticks most sell real estate, insurance or have a business they can conduct from the front deck via smartphone.
  8. quit calling the a-rig a lure it is 3-5 lures swimbaits grubs whatever. They use chum and 11 foot rods with wire leaders in the ocean too. It's not about catching doubles its about increasing the strike zone. If its legal in your state then do as you please.Trolling is legal in MO but not legal in a tournament I'm strictly talking tournament fishing. One thing we can all agree on is its all about the bite if it gets you more bites and its legal knock yourself out.
  9. This isn't hard to understand dd22=one lure a-rig=3-5 lures each swimbait you fish is a lure. You can't cut a crankbait in half and still fish it.
  10. 97pro Mann's bought the rights to it about as big as it gets in the tackle industry. Bass Pro carries them official sponsor of B.A.S.S the Elite pro's are the ones who wanted the ban. A rule comity made of pro's voted the a-rig and any multiple lure rig out not the people who sponsor the elites. Comparing the double dropshot to the a-rig is apples to oranges one is a vertical presentation one horizontal plus i have never seen the double dropshot dominate a series of major competitions. The price has nothing to do with it. Throwing 3-5 lures at once is increasing the strikezone to bait ball size.
  11. If you use the hydrowave the fish still has to bite at a single lure The a-rig is 3-5 lures it increase's the strike zone by by 300 to 500% over a single lure. If it gets the fish exicted is it more likely to strike maybe but it still has to locate a single lure not a ball of swimbaits.
  12. One rod ,one reel ,one line ,one lure. It's the right thing to do for derby fishing imo. As a tournament bass fisherman we are already treading a thin line. People don't want us around their docks, they don't like us running around the lake at 70+ mph. How are they going to feel about 150 boats 2 guys in each casting chandeliers? I hope other organizations follow bass and ban it from competition.
  13. Catching fish on a dropshot or spoon is not hard on the graph but locating a school of quality kentuckies or smallies being able to catch 5 quality tournament fish is tough on a drop bait on the graph. I just feel that imitating a school of shad is going to trigger a predatory strike from the fish that they can't control I have had days on the rock swimbaiting when I caught 2 or 3 keepers but seen well over 30 big fish follow the bait back to the boat. I don't know what will happen with this but I would thinks they won't resist a baitball. How long till the fish become conditioned to the A-rig and become skiddish about swiping at a school of bait. Increasing the strike zone by 500% is what the rig is designed to do. I just don't know how you can say this makes you a better angler which is why we all fish to begin with.
  14. your playing on the instinct of a predator they can't help but ambush a school of slow moving bait. I throw 20# flouro in the timber and get the same amount of bites as guys fishing 12# they can't help but react.
  15. I think by sporting what Csfishinfool is saying is it takes no skill with a rod and reel to heave 5 swimbaits out and slow roll it back. It's certainly not like fishing a jig or worm through timber or drop shoting with your graph. Here is something else I fear after a couple of seasons of every angler pulling in and chucking the A-rig in every patch of timber on the lake whats it going to be like to pull in and catch some braided line with an a-rig hung down in a tree with a lucky craft or other high end bait leaving 5 baits and a rig broken off down in the water seems a little contradictory to the mission of conservation. This rig is an equilizer for the average angler. good for recreational anglers, killer to true tournament fishing.
  16. Leaving this afternoon for the point doing three days greer to riverton. This morning is like christmas for me the anticipation of what the fish are doing last dec we had a monumental trip with lots of numbers and a few quality fish. Small maribou jigs have been the best with color depending on the day. I will post report and pics next week.
