Went fishing today thinking that this may be a catching day. It probably was for some but not for me. I love fishing for bass in the summer with worms, but I'm tring to learn how to fish jigs and how to present them. Started about 11:00 am and fished to 2:00 pm. Had one hit on secondary point in cove and one fish chased a jig in while I was reeling in the lure.
I have been fishing Stockton Lake for about 6 years now and the darn wind really gets to me at times. Today the wind wasn't that bad on bank but there was 2-3 ft. white caps and I really could not get to where I wanted to fish. I think after all this time the best thing to do is not too fish the lower part of the lake around the dam to the twin briges if the wind is out of the s. sw. se. and only fish that area when the wind is out of the north. What a dummy, it's only taken me this long to partially figure out the lake. Maybe I should not motor anywhere and fish the cove where I unload. Anyway I could not believe how rough the lake was today considering that the wind wasn't really that strong off the lake.
Maybe one of these days I will get it figured out..lol {yeah right} Just venting

Wanted to introduce myself to people who fish Stockton Lake a lot. I joined this web site in 2010 but was never really active. I think my profile is complete but you know us old farts...lol Trying to figure out how to use a site can be confusing at times. Bear with me because I will screw up I'm sure. I think it's a great site and hopefully I will get things figured out. Best fishing reports ever from ordinary fishermen, well somewhat..lol Keep up the good work fellow fishing buddies.

Hello Walcrabass,
Thanks for the fishing report. Sounds like you had a good day. Think I will give it a try today, not into gig fishing that much. I will have to learn, was always pretty good with plastic worms. Sounds like it's going to be a nice day and my catching day may not be that good but it will be nice to get out. Fishing changes from one day to the next so I will see what happens today.
Thanks again Herb

Welcome aboard Fishingherb!! The water around Ruark is in very good shape. 3 ft of visibiilty where I was at last Saturday. I think a lot of the fish, not just bass, are pretty confused this year. From what I have seen this on again off again cold has the fish spawning on and off. It may not be the greatest spawn ever but I think it will be OK. With the high water the fry will have a lot of cover to hide in so survivorbility should be good. Let us know how you do on you trips.

How is the bass spawn this year? With all the changes going on I would think the bass are as confused as I am. Does anyone know the water conditions around the Ruark are? Is the water muddy or clear? Moved to this area about five years ago and retired thinking that I could get in a lot of fishing. I knew Stockton was windy I guess I didn't know just how much.
Looking forward for warmer weather and less wind. Of coarse we will need it this Summer and it will be like glass on the water, Oh well that's nature. Have a good week fellow fihermen.

Well I did it I caught a 28 inch Walleye he weighed almost 8 pounds !!!! So excited when landed him. I was fishing for catfish with chicken liver and it was'nt working out for me. So I caught a 4 inch long Bluegill and decited to take off the liver and put him on the hook instead. Threw him on bottem and not 10 min. later my pole started bounceing thaught it was a catfish a nice one at that but it was the biggest Walleye I have ever seen in front of me. and or caught... It was like that feeling of buck fever. And caught 2 Whites and 1 keeper crappie. Huck

This is typical in today's times after all look at the pros they do the same thing. After all if the pros do it then everything is OK.
