Im jealous. Living in oklahoma I don't get out there very often at all but I sure enjoy reading how its fishing. Post some reports and pictures if you can.

I saw on the other post about a consistent 75 cfs flow. Would this be wadeable at that flow? Also I saw that they stocked twice, once on the 16th and another on the 18th. Would these stockings put enough fish in the river for there to be any decent fishing opportunities? Just curious about the river. Thanks

Hey guys, Im coming out there next week fishin and just wondered if anyone has been throwing egg patterns yet. I know the browns should start moving up and staging to spawn pretty soon. Even if egg patterns aren't the fly choice yet lets hear some reports. No specific spots wanted to anything just curious about the whole river.

Hey guys, Me and a few buddies are taking full advantage of spring break this next week and headed out to the current. I was just wondering if anyone has fished it recently and how it was looking. I headed out to the river saturday morning. The water turned off at 9 we started fishing right below the dam as the water level dropped. There were guys picking up fish on spin cast in the flat water but that was about all. We started walking down stream and got to i think around the 3rd parking lot and found a nice little run right about a small fall. Saw some fish rising so we started at it. Around 10 30 the bite really started to pick up and we were catching fish on olive and gray zebra midges. I ended up the day with 24 and my far share of misses. Overall it was a great day on the water

hey guys, me and a few college friends are planning on coming out to the current for a fly fishing trip before too long. I was looking at missouris out of state licenses costs but i had a question. Does anyone know if they offer like a 3 or 5 day licenses instead of the $43 annual. This would really help. thanks

ya i actually have a good friend (Austin Griffin) who was down there this spring, he is also a biology student at snu. I just want to be able to go to a university where i can have the entire fisheries biology degree not just one semester somewhere. It sounds like a neat program i just dont think its exactly what im looking for. He actually fished that stream alot and i have seen a bunch of pictures of it. it looks pretty cool

how has your duck season been going? as it gets closer to the end im getting more and more of an itch to be out there with a fly rod in my hand!

ya i cant either i have class every day to make up for all the duck huntin i did last semester and goofed off in school, oops haha. well here in a few weeks ill send you a message and we'll meet up. ill look forward to it man. let me know how the fishin is out there in the mean time.

i was gonna apply to csu also until i saw what their out of state tuition cost... if i move there this summer ill become a resident then apply. ya i looked at northeastern but osu will pay for your masters. and they just have more money for their program with being a bigger school. that would be cool man. where are you from. with living in okc its a little bit of a drive so we'll have to plan it sometime

zach, right now im actually just regular biology at southern nazarene university (free schooling for me to get my basics) here in oklahoma city. After this semester though it kinda depends on what my summer ends up doing. im trying to get on as a guide at a few different ranches in colorado. if that all works out ill be attending colorado state. if that doesnt work though im gonna stay here and go to oklahoma state, i have looked into many different schools for this including arkansas tech, southeastern and a few others. out of these i would say osu has the best program. on the fly, right now my goal is to be a biologist and focus on cold water streams and rivers for trout but if that doesnt work im completely open to the idea of being a warden.

Well you learn something new everyday dont you. I had no idea it was this kind of fishery at all. Im a fisheries biology major and actually worked for the okc fish hatchery this summer so i heard alot about the lmf but for some reason not much about the lir for some reason. I think its only about 2 and half hrs from the city so im gonna have to grab my stuff and head over there some day! Being a tailwater there are probably not alot of hatches but do most of yall fish midges, hackles, nymphs? thanks guys! im excited now!

Hey guys, im a college student in okc and i have never fished the lir. I head out the white in arkansas pretty often then always make my way up to colorado for some fly fishing every year. This river isnt too far though and i have been thinking about trying it out. Is this river worth the drive out there? I have always heard about the stripper fishing out there and figured there were only a few trout but after reading some on here i think i had the wrong impression. Let me know guys. thanks

well man we ended up doing pretty good. we started at the ramp right below the dam and only got one fish on a olive wooly bugger. we put the boat in and headed down the the artificial only and fished our favorite pool (the deep pool on the bend past the big cabin) we beached the boat and waded out. caught 8 pretty quick on a olive midge till i broke it off. switched to a egg pattern and that was it! we were hooked up on fish the rest of the morning when we all switched to egg patterns. fished till noon and took a lunch break. evening we ran to spider creek island and did ok. had alot of strikes but i was off. ended up landing 5. overall a good weekend. thanks bud
