  1. Great thanks for the help
  2. I have recently purchased a G Loomis venture 5 for my Orvis Clearwater 4 wt 2 peice 9 ft rod. Anyway here is my question. I have put about 80 ft of backing on the reel and 100 ft of WF4F line. The Manufacture states that the Venture 5 is for 5,6,7 line. I have compared size and weight to the Ross Arius reels 1.5. Theirs state 4-5-6 weight lines. Anyway, would there be any reason that I should not use this reel on my 4 wt? The weight is 4.80 and dia of reel is 3". Reels fits good, and balances well. Not sure if I am missing something
  3. I will be having Gary Teach my daughter and me, I plan on getting active in Trout Unlimited right away. Something my parents never did for me. I was never one for clubs being a member of something but that has all changed. It is important to teach conservation at a young age.
  4. Greetings and Salutation All, I have a 10 yr daughter that received a fly Rod and Reel for Christmas, I have given a blood oath that I will take her to bennett fishing this Weekend. Here is my first problem. I did not buy her waders as I wanted to make sure she would enjoy fly fishing before spending the money. However, I had intended to rent waders for her while in season. I had not intended to take her this early in the season. I am now stuck and need to see if any has any suggestions on where to rent waders in the off season around Bennett or if anyone around Columbia has a pair they are wanting to sell! I am looking for any advise. I called Weavers, they are closed for the season. Called Larry's got the answering machine. Not sure how to proceed! Guess we will be fishing from the Sand Near Whistlers Bridge
  5. OK anyone been to Bennett in the last couple of Weeks?? I was wondering what they were hitting on and where the big ones are hiding?? Fished the Roach hole last time and did well, I may move up need the spring this time. Used red copper johns and had good luck. Looking for Moby Trout this time. Need the trick of the trade!!!
  6. Columbia MO 2 and a half from anywhere ha ha
  7. Since I know this guy too! You will be working right next to him and 5 min later he is gone! The computer is off, phone logged out and chair pushed in. When you head home for lunch, you can see him fishing away in trout stocked ponds.
  8. Great Advise, I had not thought of snapping the hook off! I will working in the backyard feverishly now! My 10 yr old is driving me crazy about going fishing. I look foward to getting instruction and hope that I can cast with the pro's! Thanks again and great advise accepted graciously!
  9. Too Funny! I have heard the addiction only continues and the money keeps being dumped into fishing!
  10. Thanks for the help, I have started to do that and will continue. I have been fishing 6 or more times in the last 3 month in at Bennett. I have seen the kits on line but thought that was a lot of money for nothing. I will try the approach at adding yarn. I greatly appreciate the advise!!! Happy Fishing
  11. Greetings All, I have recently been introduced to fly fishing and I have caught the bug! I have several questions that others may be able to help me with. I will soon be taking lessons from a local FFF Trainer. However, I have a 10 yr old that will be learning with me. I would like to know if anyone has any backyard training tips or tools that I could work into my training. I am aware of the yard casting, I am not sure how to do that with my fly rod. Can anyone give any advise on this matter. I have seen videos with guys doing this with sticks they have made or tips of broken fly rods, I would like to make something but now sure how to go about it. This Newby/Rookie is looking for advise. Thanks
