  1. I made it down as hoped and spent the better part of a day playing around. Water was definitely low and clear but I don't mind fishing it in those conditions personally. Didn't catch many fish , and yes they were all pretty small, but the fact that we didn't cross paths with another fisherman all day more than made up for the modest fishing.....Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  2. Russ - I was able to locate a PHW chapter here in Lawrence Kansas that works with soldiers from Ft Leavenworth and have made arrangements to drop the rod off for them. This will save me the shipping costs of getting it to you , but I appreciate your offer to help. Thanks again.....Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  3. Appreciate the info...I won't be down til tomorow so I'm thinking the roads should be good by then for sure. I hear ya on the water levels , definitely need some moisture for these rivers. I'm not too worried about whether I catch any fish or not , just looking to get away and enjoy being on the river regardless. http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  4. The wintry weather has me changing up my two day trip plans and looking to do a one day trip a little closer to home this weekend. Wondering what the road conditions are like around the area? Did you all get as much snow as we did here in KC this last week? Thanks for any info ,I just don't want to make a bad decision on the drive if I don't have to.....Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  5. Hey Russ - can you get me an address for someone I can send this rod to in your local Healing Waters chapter? I think I've done all I can do to find it's rightful owner so it's time to donate it to a good cause. Thanks for your assistance......Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  6. Let us know if you get some in the shop Phil. I would definitely stop by and pick up a few just to check them out. I havn't found any in the local flyshop bins that I frequent and while I know you can order anything online, I really like to see what I'm getting if at all possible. I could use a few patterns for examples while I'm learning to tie my own. http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  7. Thanks Russ. I think I'll probably give it another week and see if anyone comes forward , if not I can get a shipping address from you and get the rod on the way to do some good for some great folks. I have a friend in the MTA that's participated in at least one of your functions I believe , heard nothing but great things about the people and all the good things done by folks like yourself. I'll be in touch if I still have the rod in another week.....Thanks , Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  8. Thanks for the info. I'm really interested in tying larger streamer patterns on the tubes , I find my hook up ratio to be pretty low when I use the larger size 4 and bigger streamers for trout. I'm really hoping that the tube aspect will increase my hookups. I've seen some really cool patterns online that looked like they'd be great for browns in our area. Think I'll order the attachment for the vise and give it a shot, sounds like a good way to spend some time waiting out this winter season. http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  9. Just wondered if anyone on the board has tied any tube flies? I've been contemplating getting an attachment for my vise and trying my hand at tying some streamers for trout on small tubes. Curious as to how difficult it is and whether the end result will perform any better than my current streamer patterns. Thanks for any advice.....Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  10. I'll call the hatchery office today and see if they've had any reports of lost equipment and give them my contact info. If I can't find the owner I'd like to donate it to a group like Healing Waters or an equally good cause. I enjoy fishing with rods that I've built so there's not much need to keep it sitting around , let someone else get some good use out of it. If I don't get any response in the next week I'll probably be looking for a home for the setup if anyone onboard runs or is a part of an organization that could use it. Thanks again for the good advice.....Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  11. I found a flyrod and reel while fishing Taneycomo Trophy area last week. I found it on Wednesday afternoon laying on the road between the boat ramp and the outlet 3 parking area. Would like to return it to it's owner if I can find them. Thought this might be a good place to get the word out. Thanks.....Jeff
