  1. No, I will not be on the river on the 2nd or 3rd. I learned a long time ago to stay away from any sort of public land on the weekends. How much further than NRO is Barclay?
  2. Well my South Dakota walleye trip just got cancelled so my back up plan is head down to the Niangua June 4-6. We will probably be there three days, fish the park one day, float/fish the river one day and wing it on the third day. I have stayed at Riverfront in the past just to float and was thinking about using them on this trip. I know there is some good trout fishing below the park but was curious if there was good smallmouth fishing in this stretch? Should I fish hard and take out at NRO or move a little quicker and go further? I assume if we don't get any rain that the river will be low, will I have any problems dragging through this stretch? Thanks in advance for any information.
  3. Do you use a shuttle service?
  4. I am running my lab in a hunt test outside of Miami on Sunday morning. I am driving down early Saturday morning and hoping to find a good place to camp within 30-45 minutes of Miami. I have read about Twin Bridges but it sound like they stay pretty busy and I was hoping to stay off of the beaten path. I won't have room for the canoe in the truck so I will be fishing from the bank. Any recommendations?
  5. Thanks guys! That hwy 8 to Scott's Ford sounds like what I am looking for. I would like to have the option to catch both trout and smallmouth and ending my trip at the campgrounds is perfect. That way I can take the trip at my own pace and not worry about meeting someone somewhere at some time. I will keep my eyes peeled for some fishing reports as we get closer and will report on my trip when it is over.
  6. Hello, everyone. With the weather we have had lately, I have been playing on the net alot, which led me to stumble on to this site. I have enjoyed reading alot of the posts and have already learned alot. I am a waterfowler first and spend most of the fall and winter chasing ducks and geese. I also founded and run a local Delta Waterfowl Chapter, where my main mission is to get as many kids excited about the outdoors as possible. We put on several events a year including our Youth Education Day, where we introduce kids to hunting, fishing and shooting sports. I also have a 2 year old yellow lab named "Zingo", after Mozingo Lake in Maryville, that I run in Field Trials/Hunt Tests. When I don't have ducks on the brain, I am usually camping and fishing with my 4 year old daughter and wife. When I actually want to enjoy fishing I leave them at home. I mostly fish farm ponds locally but make a couple trips every year to the Bennet Springs/Niangua River area as well as the Current or Huzzah. I usually make a point to stop and fish somewhere on the way to or from a trial or test that I am running my dog in, so you never know where I will end up. Enough rambling, I hope to continue to soak up some of the amazing fishing knowledge that I have already read off of this forum, for years to come. And I hope that I will have something constructive to add to party. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum here. With the weather the way it is I have had some time to think and plan about the upcoming spring. I have a yellow lab that I run in field trials/hunt tests and will be running a Trial over by Kentucky Lake on March 25 (friday). Usually, if time permits, I try to hit a fishing spot on the way to or from one of these events. I should be done friday afternoon/evening and was planning on checking out the Meramec on the way back. I have fished/floated most of the rivers in Missouri, but have never been on the meramec. I would like to camp friday and saturday night with an all day fishing/float trip on Saturday. I am looking for recommendations on a campground to run out of or if there is public camping and a shuttle service that I can take advantage of? Also, what stretch of the river should I float? I know alot of this will depend on spring rains and stuff like that but I am just trying to get a general idea. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.
