went down below the dam today went to go walleye fishing but chould not keep the crappies off my line so i started fishing for them had a great day on crappie me and my dad got our 30 and a few whites no eyes though

i have been hearing reports of people catching crappie on the banks already has anyone else heard this i know it is early but water is warm

i am going down to the river for the first time i was wanting a few hints if anybody can help me out i will be going the first week of september staying at the river of life any help would be great

the cats in lakes are biteing good right now manily from the shad die off you want to fish around the banks along flats were the wind is blowing in too the bank the wind will blow the dead shad to the bank that is the best bet right now until the water warms up hope that helps

Shot a big doe second weekend of rifle season with black powder then got a chance to go back out Christmas Eve in the snow. Didn't bother with the morning hunt so I walked over to the stand around 12:30 or 1, hadn't been in the tree 30 mins when a nice 8 walked by at about 20 yards. All I can think is that my climber sounded like a fight or rubbing. Good thing there was snow on the ground or I never would have found him, went 50 yards before I found a drop of blood, maybe another 50 after that where I found him... no exit wound. I was still sweating like mad from the walk/climb to my stand then I had to drag him out. He also had a thick orange goo at the base of his antlers - maybe tree sap from rubbing on cedars?
what part of the state did you get that buck

i got to go down there today i was rained out of work it was really slow today caught 4 hybrids but no size it is funny how they can shut off like that i fish mostly in the old channel they were running alot of water but it weired the water was swurling alot but i think after this cold front gets past us in a couple of days it will pick up dont think i will be able to get back down for a week or two so good luck to you all

Good luck EBake. I'll be happy catching about anything but I'm really hoping to catch some walleye and maybe some hybrids. I'm going to be bank fishing right below the dam.
I went down sunday with two boat loads of people with 6 guys we caught 15 hybrids over 18in 9 eyes 7 being keepers largest geing 26in i cant tell you how many whites but alot we put most of them back we were from boats but the banks were packed better get there early

Glad to hear you had a good trip! Which side were you on and what were you using? I hopefully will make it down in the next week or so.
I was fishing from a boat in the dead water using 1/4 jig with white and green curly tails made by gulp

went to the dam on sunday got down there around noon was a little late got there when they had slowed the water down the turned it back on about 2 hours before dark and it got good me and my buddy caught 15 stripers/whites and 2 eyes one eye was 5 pounds both were males so the males are there the sows will not be far behind

That's pretty awesome about the C&R regs. I think that I'll give them a call @ Bass Pro and post what they say.
Josh, I'll have to check into that. Fly rodding for carp sounds really good right now, but of course anything sounds good with the way this winter was.
i hear that the cabin fever is about to drive me nuts

ya last year i was down at bennet for opening day and saw a nice 8 pointer in the park that is the latest i have seen one with horns up here just south of kc our deer our slick headed by february

glad to here truman is coming up should come up even more all the rivers i have seen are high hopefully they keep running water not let it stay in truman so it wont flood the missouri

we were fishing mostly on the break line of the slack water and the channel but a little out in the channel they were running a little water but not much not the right amount to make it all that good

ya i think the water needs to warm up about just a little and it will be prime time good luck to you when you get out

i hooked my self bad only one time i had just caught a 40 pound flathead i was trying to pull the hook out of her mouth when she floped at the same time as the hook was coming out the large circle hook went in to my pinky finger all the way to the eye had to go to the doctor to get it out it was not alot of fun

went down below the dam today the fishing was very slow i caught 3 white bass and all kinds of gar but no eyes to be found didnt even talk to any one that had any but my buddy that was with me did catch a 60 pound spoonbill on 10 pound test so hopefully it will only get better

there are alot of crappie below truman year around mainly in the dead water the walleye should be moving up river right now i am going to go there this weekend to try for some eyes they should be in pre spawn

i will be there for the opener i have been going for awhile now yes there are alot of people but you get too get out of the house and catch some fish so its not all that bad its really a good time

i was wondering if anybody has been to the dam i was there 2 weeks ago and it was all ice wondering if it was still that way would like to get my boat in and chase some eyes and white bass

i was using jigs with minnows and just strait minnows too both were working i was in a boat in the old channel
