I couldnt tell how effective these would be during the day but at night..this is what I use for lures (other then flies) 6'6"- med-lite a good spinning reel.. 6-8lb maxima line 4-7in smithwicks (fall) rapalas all kinds & size.. rainbow, baby browns, black & silver, gold & silver.. floaters work the best.. suspending works good... and alway have couple of countdowns (those work the best in high water 3-4 units) dont forget the jointed ones rebals works, go small... yo-zuri pin minnows are GREAT for day fish.. flashy, great profile, but are high end ($7-9 ea).. but are worth the money. also jigs.. Phil could fill you in on these.. but olive, white, black, gray, and tan are the top colors...from 1/16 down to a 1/100 (between 1/64-1/125s work good under floats) most of the hard baits will be best if used in the 2-4in range.. but go bigger in the fall Leonard

friday night started close to midnight and ended somewhere around 6am I met up with centerpunch at outlet 2... we decide to head downstream (KOA area)... it started GREAT... just about anything we throw at them was working... PMS, Mohawk sculpins, and a new sculpin pattern Ive been working on, and even the funky stuff!! (all colors produced fish.. white, olive, tans, blacks it didnt matter) not sure how many he caught... I believe I end there with about 20... about 8 of those were in the 17-19 range... then we head up to the guanlet and big hole about 4am... we headed striaght to the big hole and fished a white mohawk... first cast a 17in bow... cast after cast.. fish, fish, and more fish... I changed back over to the PMS, and started to work up the guanlet... by now fishing is started to slow down (at least for me).. and made it all the way to the head of the gaunlet picking up maybe 8-10 more fish... now for saturday night... we met up again I believe close to 10pm (or just after) again we met up at outlet 2.. and decided to do KOA again.. this time it started off slow very slow for me... I only had just a few hit strikes with a few hook ups and alot of LDRs... after about an hour I really started get in to them... first with the new sculpin... next with the PMS. I think as I was walking toward KOA, I picked up about 18-20 nothing of really size 15-17in range on the way back up still with the PMS I probably caught another 18-20 if not more... Centerpunch... I had a GREAT weekend thanks for the use of the rod.. It was AWESOME... next time we'll have to do it again.. Leonard

This will be good!!! The nine courageous guys who are stepping up to take on the challenge are musician Vanilla Ice, actor Stephen Baldwin, actor/musician Leif Garrett, actor Dan "Nitro" Clark, actor Francesco Quinn, former football star "Rocket" Ismail, Ultimate Fighter Josh Haynes, X-Games motorcycle legend "Cowboy" Kenny Bartram and Survivor reality star Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton. Vanilla Ice...LOL... Just maybe the guy who wins this this!!! Nitro and Josh are going to get in a bar room brawl... and Fairplay is going to get something broke...

Vanven... If I had a choice of another rod.. Id have to go with another Redington. I may have to go longer like the 10' Leonard

between 3:30-3:45... I caught 2 on that pine squirrel just below chute 2... then I had enough... not a total skunk.. but close

How long of a rod - keep it clean please!

Im looking into a few new spinning rods my self... I think im going to go with a Micro-lite (from)bass pro... a 7' Im going to using 6lb line.. and it is heavy enough to put up to 10lb line and able to hold a bigger reel.. I also believe I will be able to go down on my line size to a 4lbs... I have like the micro-lite since I had my first one (about 6 years ago) they are great little rods... and for the price.. there are GREAT!! I think they come in sizes from 5' up to 7-7 1/2... although Phil carries a brand of spinning rods (with in the same range as a Micro-lite)... Im may talk to him and see if he will let me "field test" one...LOL The ones he has are Very nice looking rods, I think these rods would be great for cloes, jigs, fly & floats, small rapalas or just lite tackle (2-4lb line). I think this would be good for wade fishing or fishing from a boat. Fishing in around trees and overhangs, crappie fishing up close to dock. Although he does has some longer rod.. I beleive up to 6 1/2 foot. The only reason Im choosing the longer rod is for distance with lighter line (6lbs) and dont have to worry about how it would handle with heavier line -
Perchjerker... I for one, think the pass couple has been slow... full moon (I dont think that has much to do with it)... high water (I think is a small part),. me forgetting my favorite fly box last night (thats why last night was slow)..LOL as for as fishing next to me... hummm... early in the month is good... every year as for a family get together.. we make a pot of vension chili.... we have about 12 -20 pots of different types, hotness, and thickness... the thicker , hotter is better... BUT you dont want to be with 40 feet... upwind or downwind.... MAN.. Leonard

The real food is NOT in Branson... You take a 15 minute drive south of Branson (toward big ceder lodge), there is a little gas station on hwy 86 (on the way to big ceder)... This little gas station sell Oscar ribs (smoked ribs)....MMMMMM yes there are a few around town... but if you want a guy that knows what he is doing and know how to smoke rib... go south of town... this ribs goes GREAT with hot seahorses Leonard

well I got a late start.. started a 12:45am on the water about 1am met up with a couple of guys in the parking lot, and kinda gave them a hand, and little crash course in night fishing.. good fresh 6lbs Maxima line, a sweet little pine squirrel, and a tip on drifting it in the current... maybe 30 fish between the 3 of us.. me catching about 6-8 of them and a 18-19" rainbow (a good night!!) they caught rest.. we ended the night just after 3am... pretty good for just 2 hours Leonard
-
Dano... my good friend... dont shoot the messenger... They shut the water at mid-night.. but the fishing was slow any ways... oh who am I kidding.... IT WAS A AWESOME NIGHT!!!
-
I really cant tell you what to do with a boat... I have never fished out of a boat in the dark.. are you wanting to fish it when the water is on out of your boat?? exactly what we are talking... 3 units are over your head...LOL... way over anybodys head
-
Brian... the max is (for the most part) 710+ thats all 4 units going but I have heard once or twice a 710.5 the last time I call it was 704.7 with 2 units going.. that is about the of 1 unit going hard... here in the next few hour.. it wouldnt surprize me if they cranked all 4 on. as far as what the have been running at night is 1 unit.. after Phils post the other day (about the boat).. that has really been the only time the water has been shut down completely... I didnt go lastnight... but looking at the chart... this is what Im reading... close to midnight it looks like the turn 2 on (maybe a low 3) and run that for an 30-45 minutes and back it back off to 1.. I could be wrong.. but just looking at the chart thats what I see Leonard
