BUT THE FISHING WAS HOT!!! I got to the dam just after 8:30pm to find the water dropping. Think I was going to have the whole place to myself (no cars in the parking lots). Walked over to outlet 2 to see the water level. Someone was there. There was 2 guys there. They took a small break and we talked for awhile. rigged up and head back down... The fishing really started getting good.. we all caught some fish on sowbugs/midges/and eggs.. we I moved a little down stream because the waterr was really dropping fast. so I went with a streamer (The PMS).. I had 1 hook up but that was a LDR... oh well.. Well the 2 gentlemen was heading out so I walked out with them to head up top to outlet 1 and the flats... As I walk into the water made a cast striaght out.. drifted.. stipped.. recast.. faster strip.. slower strip. then it happened... I noticed some active on the upper side of the outlet... (Bet you all thought I was going to say I caught a big fish..LOL).... I made a cast toward the dam..within seconds of it hitting the water.. BLAM... A very nice, very colorful 18in bow next cast.. again.. alittle bit smaller.. maybe a long 16 or 17in bow... The next 7 cast all produced fish... 9 cast 9 fish... I maybe totaled out about 18-20 fish before leaving at 11:30pm Nathan.. I enjoyed meeting you and your Dad.... Hope to run into you all again soon Leonard

HIGH WATER REPORT!!!! I got to the dam about 8pm, it looked like a good 3 units going.. I started with a midge and a peach egg drifting in outlet 2. Right away hookups started. nobody else around and the fishing was GREAT!! A young man from KC (Steve) showed and we sat and visited for awhile and he joined me for alittle fishing under the stars. Right away he started hooking up some fish, No huge monster. But I did see a big bow (maybe 25-26) cruising around. well I gave it to him after catching just over 20 fish. He landed some NICE fish and had a blast (we lost count after that). We decided to head up top and throw.... you guessed it... the PMS... had alot of hard strikes and landed 3. All bow about 17-18in NICE!! then all flow was gone... So we called it a night close to midnight

started last night about midnight, when I got to the parking lot, there was a few cars already there... SteveP and his lovely wife ( sorry I cant remember your name).. and JJtroutbum.. well JJ and I headed to the water with pretty much everything to ourself... we started at the guanlet and headed to the big hole.. caught a good number of fish... I think we were throwing a white streamer. well it was time for some coffee... Next, Headed up to 1 to see what was happening.. Again.. I stayed with the white and he went to a pine squirrel (I think Olive) and caught a great number there.. time for more coffee... I think we decided to go get a snack (Denny's... Thanks JJ).. we got back down there and headed back to 1. here is where it really turned up the heat.. Still with white.. I think he stayed with olive... NON-STOP.. we missed alot.. landed Alot more.. and had a few LDR..which was ok.. we didnt get our hands wet) Day report.. well the sun started to come up and my skin started smoking, and eyes was burning... we headed back to the car for more coffee.. and run into Ronnie (flysmallie).. well he joined for a little fun... pine squirrels, streamers and a soft hackle.. we head toward the rebar.. The streamer I was using pop up 3 right away in the head of the rebar (none of those were landed) proceded to the rebar, picking up a couple, well I started to head toward the bighole and stop just at the Rock at the head of the Gaunlet... well I talked Ronnie into going up to outlet 1 to see if the big boys are hanging around.. Not much action in the outlet but there waas a few big one around... The First brown of the year was a 24-25in caught on a white bunny leech This was my last fish of the day... No picture.. I didnt know what the sun would do to the camera...LOL To everyone at the Get Together... Nice to meet everyone and chat with old friend. Hope to see everyone again next year!!!! Enjoyed the FOOD!! Midge on top.. sowbug dropper.. Although.. I changed colors of the sowbug.. with the wind.. I went for a light tanish/white (almost a cream color).. 12 fish in about 45 minutes.. And I was done!! That north wind HAMMERED me at outlet 2... frozen eyes on the rod.. when I got there I did see a car and a van up by outlet 1... the road was very slick there.. sidewalk was a solid sheet of ice.. time for some fun... fill in the blank... I froze my _______ off!!! HINT: it wasnt my big toe...

High water again... Just about the same as a few days ago.. glow in the dark indicator sowbug and eggs... I hit the water about 10pm.. and fished till about 12:30... 20fish.... then I stopped.. something really neat last night... one of the fish I had just caught, as I was getting ready to remove the hook, I noticed a smallish sowbug on the fishes tongue. A second later I noticed a BIG scud deeper into the fishes mouth (about a size 12).. same color and same size as the scud I was using... (size 12... light olive) yes.. this fish had 2 real bugs in its mouth... I didnt take the camera.. but that would have made for a cool picture...

I hit the water right after the TU meeting... Need to send a THANK YOU out to Jim Johnson... GREAT presentation last night.. Thank you.. Now for the report... It was one of those night (of that matter a day) that everyone dreams about.. I geared up and was walking down the stairs at outlet 2 at 10pm... 2 units running and 2 other cars in the parking (but I never saw anyone else!!) the first set of flies I decided to try was a midge and egg... first cast in (the flies wasnt even wet).. fish on... second cast.. fish on... 3rd.. 4th..5th... fish on all landing 10 fish landing in the first 15 minutes... NON STOP ACTION... some fish would hit.. Id set and have on for a second or two... or Id just miss the fish... EVERY drift was a stike... and the 3 drift I had with out a strike there was moss on the hook... but I did catch a bow on a moss cover midge.... I total out 42 fish (most all fish were 13-16in) I left at 11:15pm I think I spent more time unhooking fish then actually fishing... Leonard

Well let me start by thanking Mike, Sandy (from Harrison Ark) and Rodney for coming and helping with the measurement and assistance.. The stairs stats: 20 foot in lenth... the bottom runners are 2x12.. posts are 4x4 (6 posts) 6 2x4 side board 20 foot 2 2x6 rail (the top) 3 foot 2in wide 16 steps... there are 2 boards at the top step/ all step are 2x10 32 brackets holding the steps the cable at the bottom (guessing 3/4in about 15 long) the are 2 cable clamps.. nuts and Bolts (still figure those out) (NOTE: the only thing we didnt measurewas the height up to the hand rails) we decide to leave the lenth the same. but we are going to widen it to 3' 6" (4in)... if possible*** next with the extra inches (width) I think it would be a good idea to add a center board under the step. post (we talked about this).. I think putting in 6x6 post would make for sturder stairs. I still think all the brackets, nuts, bolts ect. need to be replaced completely.. some are rusted.. others are shot.. some could possibly be reused.. (we can decide that when we have them apart) The railroad tie at the top needs taken out and replaced it is starting to get rot spots on it... didnt spend much time looking at that.. notice it after we did everything else.. at the bottom.. I think concreting a set of step is a good idea.. but building the frame/ setting the concrete/ and getting it to dry. on top of moving the rocks out. The idea came out to have a platform off the bottom of the steps. Then concrete in a 3 sided set of steps. (measurements are still being out!) Down side. we would have to set the frame.. hope no water runs and get the concrete in quickly.. but we may need to add calcuim to the mix to help it withstand the water that will be on it.. (I hope I said that right!!) I think a list of volunteers needs to be started... (who/ what they can bring as for as tools) there has been a few guys come and say they could help... but I think we are looking at a weeks worth of work to be done it 2 days.. Leonard.. I have more details Tuesday night... If anyone thinks they can draw a blue print (or a to-scale print).. up for this.. you are welcome to call me and we can work out plans (417-779-8061)...
-
Mike.. There will be a few of us there at outlet 2 saturday about 10am (tomorrow).. looking at the stairs...Im sure one of us could help you... The next thing that comes into play.. you dont want to fish the outlet.. They could be generating water in the morning.. Although they could shut it down all weekend... Im guessing... But start to morning off with midges... maybe add a red or pink SJ worm as the dropper... or run the midge and use an egg (pink or peach) as a dropper.. if nothing there.. Id do scuds and sowbug.. then there is alway stripping a wooly... Leonard...
