  1. AHHHH.... there is that talk about those dang beavers again... STOP GUY!! your giving me nightmares again... Ive had beavers swim within a foot of me.. Ive had them so close that they smack the their tail on the water and soak me... I had one that I tapped on the head with my fly rod... I saw one swimming out in the water right at me, so I backed up to about shin deep and the freaking thing popped up at my feet... I was changing flies one night before I entered the water and heard some rock move behind me and 2 foot away was a beaver sitting there watching me..... I was fishing up by the cable and stepped down and something move... I though a rock had slipped... I was inches away from stepping on it tail... Im scared of those freaking thing... I know they are harmless... but they alway seem to surprise me for some reason the muskrat dont brother me at all... I see them all the time.. Its just those dang beaver
  2. I guess I could always take my spinning rod.. or should I take the fly rod?? HUMMMMM
  3. I'll be in the area and thinking about hitting Bennett... I have never been there before.. and I hear its good. some of you may know Im a Big fly.. Heavy line fishermen... I wont be using scuds, midges or worms.. I will have a 7wt (think thats a overkill.. to bad!) the flies I will be throwing are big and heavy. anyone interested in meeting up and having some fun? shoot me a PM.. Leonard
  4. Not a problem.... Anybody else? Please update me..... If your flies are not in the mail on the 5th... let me know... I wont to get these back out quickly... Im ready to start using these bad mothers!
  5. may have to start tying up ... A brown blob on a treble hook and let it set outside for a day or two... recipe: 2/0 treble hook brown 6/0 thread heavy duty brown chinelle a few piece of red chinelle (for the veins) call it "the Chicken liver"
  6. second??? you must not be fishing it often enough...LOL this is probably catfish #10 Ive seen (or heard about) coming out of the trophy area.. Although this one is the biggest... I caught 3 channel cats back in 08.. and picked up (bare handed) a flathead that was laying in one of the deep holes one night after the water had dropped out.. it was probably in the 26-27in about 14lbs... Henry was with me that night I think Duane Doty caught (or saw it swimming around) a catfish or two in 08 and 09
  7. AWESOME! Bruce.... It was good to see you this weekend.. Not only that... but it felt great to be up on my feet and enjoying a few bends in the rod.. Congrats on the big fish... and the BEAST!
  8. Jack.. Im sure your safe with your set up.. just remember the big fish are moving in.. and you probably wont want to catch a 20lbs+ brown on a 4wt... although it sound like fun.. it would hurt the fish more then any thing......... at least you would have one for the wall!
  9. This may come as a shock... When you are fishing for trout in the fall... the DO levels are normally low anyways... The fish will die if you fight them to long or to hard on light tippet... This is what I saw today.... This guy catches a really nice trout... 20/21incher (as he said.. "Probably his biggest trout ever!) He gets it in the net.. GREAT Job! he walk it up to dry land.. to take a picture.. he is on the bank for about 5 minutes.. Next I see him head up to the parking lot... 15 minutes later Im heading home... I see him in the parking lot and the fish is still in the net.. I asked "Are you taking it home?...... he replies "No... Im going to release it" I say "why the fish is already dead" This is what he says next... And I quote...... ***** " No its not.. Its gills are still pumping.. Im sure it will be fine ." ***** unquote ... so he is walking back down to the lake as Im leaving... NOTE!! I dont know of any fish that is able to survive 20 minutes out of the water!! WOW...
  10. got some really SWEET looking articulated PMSs.. AWESOME!!
  11. A light weight fly box would be good.. remember the lighter the better
  12. Hey jack.. Nymphing at can be very rewarding. I would say up size your midges and scuds. When I use this set-up I like to use a size #12 midge and run a dropper #12 scud or even a egg... Anglers and Archery carries the floats and light sticks .. Although when the water is off I think I rather be stripping streamers..
  13. Received Mikes custom fly rods flies today AWESOME FLIES!!

  15. Happy Birthday Phil... Also congrats! I understand there is a New Grand daughter ....

  18. I have marked this swap full..... Lets have fun.. lets get them done.. the quicker we get them tied the qucik we get them back and we can test them out... We have about 3 weeks .. I have posted my addy on the first post.. LET git'R'done!!
  19. I will close this swap tomorrow at 12pm NOON!! I will take 1 more person Bruegy.. I would like to stick with the title swap... sculpin or streamer... BUT... If no one else has any objections to a mouse.. then go for it.. Does any other swappers care if he does a mouse?
  20. If the hook is sharp ... use it! Those hooks are sharp enough to go through the jaw of a bass or a walleye... Then they should give a very LOVELY "lip piercing" to a nice trout.. Also I like the colors.. PS... message sent Leonard
  21. Sweet... Thanks Micheal... Welcome to the swap!
  22. did you guys keep him??
  23. hey Troy... see if this helps you any.. http://www.slideinn.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=79 Your gonna hear alot of BLAH BLAH BLAH... on "HOW TO".. If you really want to learn the right way... this is where you should start! Or send me your address... and you can borrow this until your come down again..
  24. sounds like your getting into it really nicely... Keep on going and keep posting reports. I'll have to get down there with you again.. when my back gets better.
  25. Barredrock... (or others).. If you follow the link up on the first post I made it should take you to the swap section on this forum.. I would enjoy having you joining the swap... BUT.. I did say when I first posted the swap.. That I DIDNT want regular woolie buggers.. But if you can do a articulated wollie... SURE THING! Understand.. That some of these guys will be tying articulated flies.. they will have a little time invested in them.. think of it as trading a $5 bill for a $1. buck
