We floated round spring down to two rivers back in April and ran into a ton of jetboats after about 9 or so miles of paddling. Didn't see anyone prior to that. Fishing was pretty good. 8-10 smallmouth and goggle eye per day. But we didn't boat a nice smallie like yours, nice job!

Nice smallmouth. Floated the same stretch sunday. Caught a couple smallies and a nice 16in largemouth. Good day on the river.

We fished the lower James a few weeks ago and caught 6 or so largemouth and about 10 smallmouth. They were all released to be caught another day. I lost a 2.5lb smallmouth due to frayed line, so I was pretty bummed. Until I set the hook on this beauty. Caught him out of a deep hole behind a submerged boulder. I thought it was a largemouth, but when I realized it was a smallmouth, I couldn't have been more excited. Close to home, great time fishing, and I threw them all back. Good luck!

I haven't tried them, can't afford them, and would rather not use them. They have been advertised as the best thing since sliced bread, but just like every technique I'm sure they have good days as well as bad days. To each their own, but I am glad they aren't legal on the BASS elite series. It's fun to watch those guys catch em on a variety of lures. Good luck and tight lines, cheers.

Anyone having any luck bass fishing in the High Point area? If so, any decent sized fish? Or are there still an abundance of 13 -14 inch fish. Looking forward to getting out on the lake soon between downpours if possible. Thanks!

Why are there soooo many bass in that length range? We have had days when we caught dozens of bass, but maybe one keeper.Only seems to happen on Stockton though. Where are the big females hiding?

Absolutely. I have caught more fish on Texas rigged worms with 1/8 ounce sinkers than most of my other lures. Its a serious test in patience at times, but I generally catch larger fish when I'm using this setup. Biggest fish came on a 10in paddle tail worm. But the 6-7in variety has put more fish in the boat for me. Good Luck!
