  1. Betty and I have been coming up there for several years and I caught my first smallie at turner. We always camp there and if you see two drunk memphians and a jeep liberty at turner you are always welcome to come and talk fish stories and have a steak because more than likely we will have one. Brian is great and I am totally addicted to stone flies during the summer and early fall. Sculpins on a spin reel fished on the drift and reeled in totally rock slowly rock. Brian if you read this I have a ton of marabou in my box and have caught nada. But, your flies rock. As does your firewood. We look forward to seeing you in the spring. Oh a side note. if you are going to camp at turner pack in and pack out please do not leave your diapers at or on the river. We clean up and try to leave the area better than we found it. We live in TN and should not have to pick up after the locals that goes for those who spray painted the rocks and the johnny house. I am off my soap box now. Have a great winter fishing and save some smallies and trout for us. See youins in the spring.
  2. I caught my first smallie right in front of the turner boat ramp where the new tree is. Still have caught no fish on marabou, Brian. lord knows I have tried. I caught two smallies the first a 20 incher and the second a 14 or 15 on a little olive and yellow eyed sculpin. Im a spin reel guy. If you use flies on a spin reel drift them and drift them deep. I have caught tons of trout using this method. Marabou, ba hum bug. See you guys in the spring.
  3. quote name='Brian Sloss' date='05 November 2011 - 06:53 AM' timestamp='1320497588' post='211729'] They will bite on the usual stuff, plus I'd bring some egg patterns as they may be spawning by then. We need rain bad, the river is real low. Bring hunter orange, you are coming down opening weekend of deer season. Be prepared to share the woods. Have a great time like you always do. Thanks Brian, do you think there will be a lot of campers? We may have to make some adjustments if there are. Lots of Orange!
  4. We are very excited about our november camping trip. What are tbe fish biting on? Are the fish in pre spawn mode? I need rainbows on my 6 pound line, camp coffee and white bean soup with corn bread. Cannot wait to get out of this city and decompress. See ya'll soon.
  5. Betty and I have weathered several thunder storms on the river. Back in July I was in the river at Turner when a storm blew up with all kinds of lightning. Very disconcerting. We had just bought a new coleman tent and the rain fly got quite a work out. When camping at Turner at the big camp site make sure you check to see where the water runs or you will have a river under your tent. Hope to go back in November. I'll try to get girly to post some of great pictures we taken on the river.
  6. DO you have fire wood and would it be possible for us to slip money under the door the for usual firewood load. keep in mind its a jeep liberty so not very big.
