  1. I was parked at the access by the log cabin if thats what your meaning. I dont remember seeing an accord but i probably wasnt paying much attention, just wanting to get in the water. I was by myself but i was talking to those 2 guys. it was their first time over to beaver and were wondering where to fish. it was slow for me as well, got 6 or so to hand and several missed. i had 2 great strikes on a dark green soft hackcle, but i broke off and didnt have any more. the rest of the day i used a y2k, white r&r, and a ruby midge. all produced a fish or 2 but nothing got hot.
  2. Thanks for all of yalls replies! The next factor I'm facing is gore-tex vs the "in house" breatheable fabric. Some swear by gore-tex and others feel that a reputable brand (patagonia, simms, north face) works just as well. Does anyone really know if there is more of a difference besides the name "gore-tex" ?
  3. thanks man, i appreciate it!
  4. Hey guys, what was (or wasn't) working for yall? I plan on going out tomorrow once they stop generating
  5. Well I have started on the X-Mas list and the first thing on there is a wading jacket. I've never had one before and I'd like some help from those that do. First off I do almost all trout fishing in fall & winter and want to keep it at/less $200. I want to get the most use out of it as possible. I thought I wanted a waterproof shell, but the more i look into it the softshells are catching my eye. I do have a nice packable rain jacket that could be thrown over a few layers if a shower started. Here is what I have looked at so far: Simms RiverTek Softshell Simms WindStopper DL Softshell Simms Freestone Patagonia Deep Wading Jacket Orvis Tailwaters No Sweat Jacket Cabela's GORE-TEX Guidewear Jacket William Joseph Squall William Joseph Run Off As you can tell, I have found quite a few and am pretty overwhelmed. If I'm missing a jacket you like please let me know Thanks for any comments, I will definitely consider them!

how far up the white? close at all (canoe distance) from the twin bridges?
  9. thanks guys, im really looking forward to it. What size ( and colors for copper john & soft hakcles) on the flies? If they decide to generate a lot over the weekend, would you think it would be worth while to rent a boat? if so where from?
  10. Hey guys this weekend i plan on meeting a friend to fish Norfork for the first time. Im just wondering what a good arsenal would be to come down with. I have been keeping up with the reports but just not sure what exactly what all i might need. Im used to fishing beaver tailwaters so i have a decent midge, scud, and sowbug collection. Any and all tips will be appreciated, thanks! Also planning on camping up there, anyone have a good spot w/ showers? I think we are going to stay at quarry park.
  11. how much time will you have on your hands? there are several good creeks for smallmouth if you are short on time. if not, beaver tailwater is about 45 min drive and if you have boat access there is always the lake itself. kings river is a great place to float/wade for smallmouth and is also about 45mins from fayetteville.
  12. thanks bill, i havent been up there in over a year and i cant wait to get ahold of some smallies
  13. wanting to make a float mid next week, does anyone know where i can find the water levels on the internet?
  14. almost possitive ill be in waukarusa and i dont think i can pass up riverfest with them there. hope to see some of yall out
  15. I fished today from 130 to 530 and had very little luck. This was my first time fly fishing for bass, and i only got 1 in my hand but hooked up with 3 or 4 others. It was a really slow day, most likely due to the water temp dropping more than 4 degrees Celsius in 2 days. White and chartreuse worked best for me today
  16. will be fishing the twin bridges saturday afternoon/evening. will report on patterns that did the job (or didnt)
  17. We wont be staying the night. Its the last night of our spring break and we are getting back from CO late saturday. We definately will be doing some pre-game before the show. I had GA last year and wasnt bad at all, just had to go in a little early
  18. sounds great guys, hopefully ill see yall
  19. nice fish retro! with respect to the hi-jacking, are either of yall seeing panic in tulsa? im definately a fan
  20. Hey guys, a friend of mine is trying to plan a trip to the Norfork in late march, and of course he said he wanted to go to McClellans and i had to inform him it was closed. My question for everyone is there another place on the Norfork similar to McClellans, meaning a place with hot showers/bathrooms that we can camp at? we would be spending 3 nights up there. Thanks
  21. Duckydoty Let me know where you will be. Ill definately be there in the morning and possibly with a friend
  22. Terry I'll make it up saturday as well. Might have a friend with me who is in town from Mississippi. Let me know what time you'll be up there, we will probably get there around 8
  23. thanks for keeping us updated steve! looks like ill be at roaring river for a while
  24. Well i made it to RR aroung 1030 and fished for about an hour without much luck. I met a guy from Tulsa who was catching a few nice fish, and he gave me a few egg patterns that he tied on a jig head, and i started catching a fish or two. I broke my leader on one and had to go back to the car where i had a message that i needed to get back home, no emergency, but enough of a problem to where i couldnt have said "sorry i never received that message....?" anyways pale orange eggs are working but the fishing is extremely technical. They would take the fly and the indicator didnt even move! hopefully ill get back before the season "opens" so i can avoid the crowds
  25. ill be up there in the morning, drive an olive jeep grand cherokee with a roof rack, and will probably be wearing an oversized indiana jones hat with hair coming out all sides of it
