  1. We floated from Maumee(not sure if that is spelled right) to Buffalo point. The water was really nice for floating, maybe a little bit to much flow for fishing but not bad. Crooked creek seemed to be flowing a little bit more than what I thought it would be at the level on the USGS site. Was definitly tough to wade fish it.
  2. Just thought I would share are trip with everyone. We just got back yesterday from a week of fishing on the Buffalo and crooked creek. The weather cooperated and the water was good for floating and fishing, a little bit to much flow on crooked creek for wade fishing but we did manage a couple of short trips. Last year the fishing was really tough as most of the fish were on beds and not really biting, this year they were concentrated in the deep pools and little backwater spots, I'm guessing because of the recent high water. So when we found those areas we really caught alot of fish and alot of really nice fish. They were biting a little bit of everything with crawdad type bottom baits producing the best, the key seemed to be fishing them really slow. This is the 7th or 8th year our group has been going to the Buffalo and crooked creek and was definately our best fishing trip yet. I have to say that the beauty of Buffalo river area amazes me everytime I go there and Arkansans are really fortunate to have such a majestic place in your state. We saw several bald eagles along the creek looking to get a fresh fish or snake meal(which there were plenty of both). Looking forward to next year.
  3. Thank you for the information, we are going to be down for a week at Buffalo point and are wanting a few options over on crooked creek to fish, I've floated from Pyatt to Yellville(not in one trip)before and was looking for something above Pyatt or below Yellville if there is anything that is would be worth trying. Thanks again
  4. Hello everyone, I just found this site last week and after reading some post I had to join up I liked it so much. I've been going into Missouri and more recently Arkansas to fish the Ozark streams for smallies since I was boy. My Dad use to take us up to the Noel area and fish the Elk and Big sugar and I have always enjoyed those trips and now take my family up there. More recently I've been going with a group of firemen to the Buffalo for a week and we fish and float there and Crooked creek. Looking forward to chatting with fellow anglers in the future.
  5. Does anyone know if there is acess to the creek around harmon? If so would it be better to float or wade? We are headed for are annual trip to th Buffalo next week and are going to try and fish crooked creek a few days. Thanks
  6. Budman I bet that spot at the logjam above Pyatt bridge has a permanent poop smell!lol
