  1. Shoot, a hundred fish day for me isn't just a good day, its the day of a lifetime! But I think your right I think people expect too much out of streamer sometimes and should think of it more like musky fishing and count follows as successess. I know i'll be watching a streamer video from you!
  2. I really don't think it's that hard, I know my fiances family puts all of their home videos from a flip cam onto HD DVD's and the video is awesome, even on a big screen. Get a fancy little sticker to throw on the top and I think you'd be all set. You're putting a lot of work into these videos and we are all getting something out of it for sure. You could even include some features on a DVD that you dont get with the youtube videos, More underwater footage, and some footage about how you go about fishing said flies from either boats or wade fishing. I'd like to see you get a little something back from the idea and think that it would be pretty cool, and could potentially reach even more people with the dvd's.
  3. Again Brian, THese video series are awesome. Have you thought about putting together the Galloup/Schmidt series of videos and putting them all together on DVD? I think it would be pretty cool, I know if there were somewhere in the ball park of 15-20$ I would buy one.
  4. These videos are the definition of awesome. Now another pattern that I have to add to my boxes. You think laser dub for the head would work similar to the wool?
  5. No, I think they were just small ones pulling at the back tail of the fly. They weren't hitting it hard like the big ones were and when i went to set the hook it just sort of pulled out. I think they were little guys, but they were still hitting it.
  6. Both fish were hooked on the front hook of the peanut which was a 2 B10S and the back hook was a 4 B10S.
  7. The tailwater night fishing has resumed! Last night me and a good buddy hit it up for the first time since October and man was it fun. We got down to the water around eight fifteen and were able to finish the last twenty minutes of the midge hatch, we both had a lot of missed hook ups. I'll blame it on the rust and wasn't able to get one to hand before it got dark. We moved up to a different run and I started nymphing to pick up my first fish and atleast got some trout stink on my hands before we made a trip up to the gas station for a few adult beverages. I stuck one and caught my first trout twenty incher on my new TFO rod. It was a good fish and fought for a good three or four minutes. My buddy picked one up right before I did on a black/red mohair leech. We both missed a lot of fish before we were able to get one to hand. Drove up to the gas station and picked up a couple airline bottles of stuff to mix when we got back, and we finished those real quick before we started fishing again. Ended up meeting with a couple guys my buddy knows and one of their dads and we all started fishing the same area that we couldn't catch a fish in earlier. The five of us ended up sticking somewhere around 50 fish between everyone. I finished with a count of 16 and my buddy caught 24. After my fourteenth fish I switched over from the mohair leeches and pine squirrel leeches we were fishing to a big ol white circus peanut. First Cast, BAM! a rock. i basicly walked across the entire run to get the fly back and finall got another cast in. BAM! Ok now this is a good fish that I just stuck, litterally where I walked to free my fly. He takes the little bit of slack line in my hand and a few feet of line off the reel and just comes loose. I start stripping in and all of the sudden he was still on! I start stripping him in and he gets himself back on the real. Finally I bring him to hand and this was a FAT 22" male bow that had the beginnings of a hook jaw going on. Very next cast i got hooked into another really fat 19" female that had to be put on the reel too. After that I retired the fly and had a few hits on a white SDungeon but I didn't catch any more. Overall it was an awesome night and I think I may be going agian tonight.
  8. Caught a 22" male rainbow and a 19" female bow tonight on a white circus peanut. This shizz works Yo. I missed a couple fish on the Mufasa, and had two or three pop off fishing a white circus Peanut.
  9. Do you fish the Chubby Muffin Much, I know it's an awesome fly, and I fish it for bass but haven't had a whole lot of luck with trout on it. Maybe I just haven't given it enough shots (only one or two) on the other hand I LOVE bucktail for clousers. I think when you tie them to thick is when they just don't get any movement out of the bucktail, but when tied sparser the flaring and compressing bucktail does is awesome on a clouser. For my clousers I hardly use any hair at all, just enough to have something on the hook and have had more luck, the sparser that i tie them. To this Post. I tied a DD last night. it's huge, do you usually fish them in that white/pink/blue? imitates a baby rainbow is what it looks to me, and it looks like it would kill on some big stripers.
  10. At night. It's been way too long and i have a bunch of flies that need to be torn up. I just got a new rod and i think it will be perfect for some night time swinging. Ten foot six weight white river classic rod... And for twenty five dollars to boot!
  11. My articulated patterns look a LOT better than they used to. Plus I made myself buy schlappen.. this is nice, and UV dyed polar chenille is awesome. Enjoy. Before Hand, I went ahead with Schmidt's Mufasa: Here is a dungeon or two: Boogie Man: Circus Peanut: Bottoms Up, unfortunately I could only find larger popper heads so only one is on the rear hook: Fathead.. I know, i forgot the back mallard, but this was the most photogenic fly: Homemade fly box that has been filled in the last two weeks:\
  12. I don't think the mallard just makes it hang, i think the mallard on the top gives it a little side to side wiggle. For the boogie man, try trimming the wool more like the fat head than the dungeon and it hangs even more, plus it doesn't roll side to side as much, atleast for me. And you can't go wrong with adding some more legs to the thing. are the meat lockers a good box? what about the bugger barns. I'm also looking at the medium latch box from BPS.. Because I have a gift card. I'm excited for the red rocket too! I got a couple in a swap a few months ago and that thing is sick as can be, and the mufasa looks awesome. These videos are top notch man.
  13. I made it over to back country, bought 100 some odd hooks. Tied a boogie man and ran out of wool, and two sex dungeons and ran out of eyes. This is getting a bit ridiculous. On the note of Schmidt'svpatters, any plans to do a video for the mufasa, that thing is real fishy looking, and doesn't look hard.
  14. you. are. the. man. If Only I fished enough to warrant tying as many of these flies as I have.
  15. I like that, Take a look at the voodoo leech, similar but has a fuller profile. how do you like that 200r hook? hold up for you?
  16. OK, seriously, crane is not a secret. just a few years back, ESPN had it listed in like the top 100 trout streams in the country. It's not a secret. If someone sees the pictures or videos and wants to hit it up, more power to them. More than LIkely, they'll leave, without having caught that fish. They will come back to try again, and get connected with the place like so many of us have, in turn hopefully picking up a bit of the trash, and cleaning this little gem up. The fish that the creek puts out is remarkable for what it is, and I think anyone trying to keep it a secret is being selfish. The place is so well known across the state, and it's still as nice as it is. I dont think it's going to change much if someone see's these pictures or video and decides that they want to fish the area. If we want to keep the place a secret have Phil pull this page off the board, remove blue ribbon status so it's not listed any where, and pretty much NEVER talk about the creek again... then maybe no one will know about it in a few years. Also, I have spoken with andrew about trying to catch this fish, and he shared some ideas that he and pruett had, and I as well think that fish is going to be very hard to catch, but that's part of the allure of the whole thing.
  17. On the bright side i dont think either, the 8089 or the B10s have a very large barb on them, but that still had to hurt. I've had to use the loop and pull method.. it works.
  18. I did in fact lose a fly, the slump buster. I could see it snagged on a rock but didn't want to blow any and all water around it.. just broke it off, went to look for another... and it was the only one I had on me.
  19. 4:00: Get off Work 4:30: leave apartment with gear in tow 4:57: smell, before seeing dead skunk on side of the road 5:10: Pull into city park parking lot 5:12: nearly fall trying to put waders on 5:13: accomplish putting on waders 5:15: see someone walking up from the creek having just finished fishing the whole park section, great now all the water is busted... Really don't want drive down to lower wire, i'll just fish it. 5:19: have a beaver scare the dung out of me when it popped out of the brush right in front of me 5:20: first cast, no fish 5:23: First fly change (I saw a few rises but nothing hatching) tried a dry 5:30: drop fly rod into the water trying to untangle fly from a tree 5:40: catch second ever mccloud rainbow on a swung softhackle 5:45: continue fishing 6:00 switch to a small slump buster 6:10: miss monster bite in the deep, slack water hole there in the park 6:11: catch a large, i.e. 14 inch... sucker... kinda pretty fish though, dark olive back with a bright red/pink belly 6:15: walk the park and not see much going on. 6:30: call it a night and decide that i didn't catch more because the water had already been fished.
  20. Looks pretty reminiscent of the Heifer Groomer, but I could be wrong.
  21. Fished the creek on saturday, lower wire. Didn't see many fish but the ones I did see were rising to a small hatch of 16-18 dark/black mayflies and caddis. Had a few takes but got antsy on the set, and missed them, Also missed one hook set on a hares ear. After that caught one little chub/minnow thing, and saved the day with what I believe was actually a smallmouth out of a rootball. I was surprised to say the least. Good Luck and happy fishing to you all.
  22. You can use the same hook. I often do. But part of the idea of an articulated fly is that it gets a lot of wiggle. A smaller hook holds less material and moves on the back more than the front hook.
  23. These are seriously Fantastic. I LOVE tying and fishing galloups stuff. I saw somewehre earlier your planning on doing the barely legal, IS that still the case. I have been working on tying that fly but can't quite get it right and want to know what I"m doing wrong as I can't find a SBS anywhere.
  24. I can attest to the sheer size of this fish, it was just massive, and we couldln't even get it's head to fit it's head in a net. When he got it close enough I was able to scoop this fish up and it absolutely required a full hug to hold it. Beautiful fish and an absolute monster, congrats andy.
