  1. I did really well fishing for crappie yesterday, and earlier this week but most people I have talked too haven't had as much luck. They have just been very particular on jig color.
  2. I have been catching a lot around Aldrich and they are right on the bank in the rocks. Some have still had eggs but they are really loose and close.
  3. Adam, I fish Stockton and the little sac river constantly, as matter of fact I just got back and managed to catch my limit of channels in the river. I have caught many catfish that were not flatheads that were in the 15 to 20 pound range, and a few that have been easily over 30. I have always considered them to be blue catfish, and if they were channels then I would of caught a handful that would of beat the current state record that stands at 34 pounds. Is it possible that their were blue cats in the sac river system before the dam was built? I was just wondering how MDC determines that there are not any in the lake. Thank you for all the information that you have already provided. I have attached a picture of a catfish that I thought was a blue and was caught in Aldrich. Thanks, Mitchell
  4. Thank you guys for the advice. Shaker I usually release back all the blues back that are over 20 pounds. I mostly just keep flatheads, but ya they all taste great!
  5. I will be spending a few days trying to catch big blue cats near Osceola next week, I have fished many river systems, and I usually target the normal spots such as humps, rip rap, anything that breaks the current near a deep hole or sometimes just really shallow runs where they come up and feed at night. I was wondering if I should fish closer to where the sac comes in, or up closer to the lake like around Crowe's crossing? Any input from those that chase big cats would be appreciated. Thank you
  6. I agree with Justin, out of over 200 fish I caught on Saturday, It took me nearly ten hours to catch my limit, and most females were in deeper water, but it also allowed me to pick up some nice walleye. But even if keepers are hard to get it does not give people the right to keep fish that are illegal and will provide for more keepers in the future.
  7. Went this evening around the Bolivar landing and limited out as well within an hour. All the females that I caught still had their eggs, but they are getting really close.
  8. Actually most of them were larger females, and their eggs were getting really close, but with this cold front it is going to mess them up and push them into deep holes most likely.
  9. I was much further up river. Monday I caught alot at the mouth of coates branch (between taylors and the railroad bridge) Yesterday I did really well about 100 yards upstream on slagle creek (it is just upstream from the railroad bridge on the frisco highline trail, between taylor's bridge and the 215 bridge). The fish from today I caught about 1 mile upstream from the 215 bridge. -There should still be lots of fish at taylors. I just went to these places as they are right down the road from my house. The trick is to find a good feeder creek or something blocking the current, and switch colors and jig movements often until you find what they are hitting on.
  10. Caught them this afternoon before it got too cold.
  11. It can sure be tough fishing with just one arm but I still managed to catch 10 on my long crappie pole bouncing marabou jigs. The fish were difficult to find, but once I did find them up a small creek they were hitting really good. I cought all ten in under an hour and lost many more. They were biting on blue and white jigs that I tied, as I have never been able to find another jig like them, and they are great white bass jigs. As a bonus my friend that went with me caught a large carp and it turned out to be about a 20 minute battle on two pound test.
  12. Ya, there is nothing I enjoy more than having a rod in my hand with a fish on the end. I am supposed to be in a sling for four to six weeks but I am doing alot of excersises so I can hopefully go without it for short periods of time to fish. I am going tonight as well and I will post my report soon.
  13. Tonight I managed to do pretty good by bouncing marabou jigs off of the bottom of a small feeder creek where the current wasn't as swift as the main river.
  14. I fished Orleans yesterday and managed to catch 12 nice females and a keeper walleye before I had to leave, but I didn't fish too long, they were biting really soft and right on the bottom.
  15. Thank you for the concern. I was getting out of my kayak to measure a walleye and I fell and dislocated my shoulder and tore muscles and ligaments all down my arm, but I will be fine, and I plan on takin out a long crappie pole and tryin to catch some whites one handed this evening. And as for the fish that I cought, I gave them to a gentleman who took my kayak and gear back to my truck for me.
