I'm window shopping too. I've looked at the Bass Pro Ascend ($600) and the Jackson Coosa ($900 at Outdoor's Inc). The Coosa seems WAY more versatile. I've thought about getting the Ascend and when the wife gets over "you just don't like paddling with me in the canoe", maybe she could take the Ascend and I could get a higher end kayak. I could always use the Ascend as a buddy kayak for someone else.

Thursday the wife and I fished Rim Shoals to the Buffalo by canoe. Rim Shoals was a bust and the water was so low I got within casting distance of the east bank. Caught one just below the catch and release area on a Copper John. The only thing that sparked any interest was a brown foam Hopper and even then they were still lethargic. Three bows the entire day. We spent more time dragging and paddling to make it to the Buffalo by 5pm. Hopefully they'll be running some water by November.

I don't build rods but have a question about a bunch of blanks I recently inherited. I've got about 80 fiberglass and graphite casting blanks most with the reel seat ferrules attached. Most of the graphite blanks are Fenwick and the glass blanks are Herters and Fenwick. Are these worth anything or should I just try to get rid of um on Craigslist as something for begining rod builders to practice on ? Much thanks for any help.
