On one of the mighty Tributaries of the Mayo Ditch here on the farm, Grassy Ditch. Yes, didn't get to try it out the first time on an Ozark stream. We are rained out still, so on our break today, I drove down to the Grassy to try this thing out, had some witnesses as they all had bets if I'd get wet, but my days of running a Pirou came back as I had the sense of balance pretty quick. Don't judge my paddle technique, this was my first time to use a double blade paddle. Wish I had had more time to fish, this ditch may not look like much, but those green weeds near the bank hold a lot of small largemouth and spotted bass, it's where I learned to fish!! What little I used the Coosa, I loved it. Had it in the high seat postion from the start, very comfortable and stable!! Also, made a homemade mount for my Gopro out of PVC pipe I had around the shop, looks like it's a decent angle of view..

Yeah, I agree, it's a great show, and Crowbars segment was one of the better parts! -

Wow, I have to say some of the comments on here made about Crowbar are pretty harsh. Wasn't my intention for stir something like this up, it's not my style, you can look up any of my threads, the discussion about catch and release, and stuff like Chief's son were fine, but some of the harsh comments and namecalling are garbage like you see on Topix. I just felt like saying something about this after getting back on this thread and reading some of the stuff. There's a good chance, Crowbar or Wanda, and some of there friends or family are reading some of this, so felt like I should apologize for starting it up. I can't imagine Phil would appove of this either, and if it continues wouldn't bother me a bit if he locked this thread up. I also regret posting the second pic, just fueled up more distasteful comments. Opinons are fine but, degrading namecalling is another. In my book, I wouldn't say anything behind a keyboard in an office, that I wouldn't say to someone face, it's just a good rule. Looks like to me Crowbar is one heck of fisherman, and maybe some can't handle a good ole boy from the hills having a little success. From what I hear and see going to Hardy a lot, he and Wanda do quite a bit for the community these days, I believe he even helped a family find there missing child that was lost to the spring river a couple years ago, when the authorites couldn't find him, that's an honorable thing in my book. Don't always judge a book by it's cover, or by it's past, and for sure if you don't even know the guy. Said my peace, ya'll have a good one! -
I had some of this in a video I made earlier, but made a short video of just that double from some gopro footage. Thought it was worth doing, I haven't had this happen very often! Makes me wanna go back as soon as possible, after watching this footage again...

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I big argument on this thread is how many fishing and hunting shows these days use "artificial" results to get a film. Crowbar's shows, especially the ones with Jason were for sure not that. He did one show were he would stand on one of the Waterfalls probably on the Spring, and was catching monster walleye, I'm talking like 6 to 8 pounds, that was probably 10 years ago. There homemade commercials were the best though...lol I did not know that Cody, but I'll not try that. Looking at some fishing Kayaks for fishing there this summer!! -

Oh yeah, those Cherokee lakes are pretty good, but you gotta be a member or landowner to fish them, that's probably why, plus they seem to stock them and keep them up. Cody, I don't think you can use a Jet in Southfork, I figure it's a paddle stream only, and it should be. -
For Channel Cats that seems to be the case sometimes. The best dip bait I've used it to take just standard Docs dip bait, and mix it with some commercial Cheese those guys use for log traps. Used to wear them out on that stuff, and smelled horrible.

Lol, no connection. Other than I have watched quite a few of his shows. My favorite place In the world is the Hardy, Cherokee Village area, been going there my whole life when I get a chance to get away. Crowbar filmed the majority of his shows in that area, so I was always tuning in to see what he was doing around there next. Guess I'm having a little fun on here since that pic stirred up some conversation, I'm not happy as the rest of ya about keeping those Smallies. -

. Can you even imagine how cool it would be to have a guy float a different stretch of Ozark stream every week, show the river, the scenery, the fishing, and anything else cool that happened, and if the fishing was tough, well, it would still be almost as interesting as floating it yourself on a slow fishing day. That's a great idea Al, somebody needs to take this and run with it. For me, when a fishing show does a show on a river or stream, it's much more interesting to me. Bill Dance these days makes his shows the easy way with his age I guess fishing that same lake stocked with monsters, but my favorite show of his this past year, he did a two week series on fishing some streams in central Tennessee, very good shows! I like this one as well! Getting back to Ole Crowbar, found out today that ole Crow actually has a jig named after him from that lure company in Thayer, now when you have a lure named after ya, guess you have arrived... One thing about Crowbars show, he catches and kills stuff with primitive and inexpensive tactics, no guides and he goes to different places, now if he'd just start releasing more fish. He even did a show one time on how to catch bullfrogs with a fishing rod, now that was good TV... -

He's been on Tv for probably 12 or more years, his shows have aired out of Jonesboro for years, he's been on the Sportsmans channel, pursuit channel, and will be airing this summer on a new channel on Dish, think it's call the Hunt channel or something, not to mention the History channel documentary, "You don't know Dixie", which had a very good segment on him. Before he had sponsers in the early days, he made his own commercials, which were pretty entertaining. Some of his shows I thought were pretty good myself. It's obvious others have as well.. -

Wow, I'm usually not one to stir the pot, wasn't my intention. When I posted the pic I didn't even realize it was taken on a deck, guess I needed to look closer. He posted this pic on his TV show page and the company that made the lure that he caught the Pigs on, JennyBug Baits out of Thayer MO, he said he caught them off the bank. He got nailed on there to by a guy about keeping them, he did respond and say he realeased many fish that day, and kept a couple for supper, (be it huge pigs) and was glad that a young guy like that cared for our streams. Anyhow, you can say anything, it's actions that count. I feel like you guys on here about Smallies, I've never kept one, and never will, they are truly special to me as well, but it's hard for me to chastize a guy if he did walk down from his house and catch fish in his back yard. Yes I've seen some of his shows, he usually does keep a lot of fish, won't deny that. I know a little about the southfork, and have a couple friends that live around there that fish it regular, let's just say Ole Crowbar hasn't hurt it to bad yet, it's still a fine stream, lets all hope it stays that way! -

Yeah, looks like your right about that Mitch. He lives on the banks of the Southfork, family has a farm there, figure that where he caught them. -
Love this one!!

I've crossed the river many times there, but have never fished in that area, thinking about trying it out. Wondered if any of you had some advice on the area. Talked to a guy that works for the foresty service, he mentioned trying Deer Leap? Look forward to trying it out soon!

Caught a smallmouth double last Monday when it was really cold. Thought that was really neat considering the conditions, caught on a jerkbait.

My Latest Fishing Video..
LittleRedFisherman replied to LittleRedFisherman's topic in General Angling Discussion
It depended on what section we were on, on the swifter water, they seemed to be on the edges, or seems by the current. In the flat water, they were behind rocks and structure. It's harder to fish the jerkbait in the swift current especially when achored like we did some, I usually drift, but the current and wind was not allowing me to fish, just fight the boat..lol In the current, I would get the bait down with some life like jerks by casting on the slack water side of it, once it got in the current, I just let it dead drift, they seemed to love that for awhile. -

Well, I stayed up to late last night, but threw this video together from my Gopro footage. Didn't catch a 19 incher this time, but alot of fun on a cold day with some decent fish! Here's the video, hope you enjoy, it was fun making it! Also, it was the the second time I got to use my Temple Fork rod that Siusaluki posted that was on sale a while back, thanks for that man, pretty good rods!
