  1. But let me ask this. If I did join and if I became very active in the SWMO chapter, I am still not in agreement with the direction the Mother Chapter is taking in regards to regulation changes. How would we address this conflict among chapters? Well Chief you are and outspoken man and I am sure you ideas will be heard and discussed and either your opinion changed or the main chapter gets changed or we compromise on it.
  2. It has been a long winter. I sure tried to make sense of some of this but frankly find it lacking substance. The correlation between Trout Unlimited with thousands of members world wide and a small organization with about 275 members is not quit fair is it. If you can see yourself clear one day come to a meeting and talk. I am just getting started and will set up a place and get the monthly meetings going. This is not a cause to loose friends over or to make enemies. We all have a love of fishing and that should keep us together.
  3. You are oh so right Ness. We had some bad apples in the ISA also but they were weeded out. It is a fact that 95% of the ISA members don't participate directly with the outings and work projects but the dues are what they consider important and they are right. I guess some of them have Grandkids or Kids that they want to leave a Smallmouth to catch and a place for it to swim.
  4. Very nice letter Dan and it gives prospective members some idea of what the MSA is doing and has done. I appreciate your taking the time to write on the forum and I am sure we will be meeting soon.
  5. I don't think there is an Arkansas Smallmouth Alliance so if some what to join with us and then get an Alliance started in Arkansas it would be a good thing.
  6. Thanks Eric1978 I will look over that Today's Topics. I was looking for something like that but seeing the Ozark Streams and that they are spread out across the area seems liked a good idea. I don't think it hurt anything and all we can do it try to gain more members. I am on a steep learning curve here since I have only lived in the area since 2005 and during that time fished Table Rock in a boat. I was a member and still am a member of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and served as the Chicagoland Regional Coordinator for several years before I retired. I set up outing, cleanups and even started the Wednesday Night Smallie Hunters that moved to the weekend Smallie Hunters when the Sun fell to fast. We would meet for breakfast and discuss Smallie fishing and then hit the river it was a fun social time and brought people with similar interests together and ideas came from that. drewo3cmc, You mentioned or I think it was you that you should start a Trout Alliance. That is not a bad idea. A Missouri Trout Alliance dedicated to preserving the great Trout fishing you have in Missouri.
  7. I have read some interesting speeches and with some I totally agree. I am getting a Chapter of the MSA started here in Southwestern Missouri. I am just getting my feet wet and don't really have much knowledge of the area and the Smallmouth Streams and what may be needed. I welcome everyone to step up and be heard. What is needed if anything and where is a good place to start. I am from Illinois and moved here in 2005 and have been fishing Table Rock Lake since I got down here. I was a member and am still a member of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and served as the Chicagoland Regional Coordinator for several years before retiring to the Ozarks. Lets get together sometime and talk about what is needed or what you would like to see accomplished as I am open to your ideas because I am in training now and looking for questions the need answers.
  8. Sorry I got all your shorts in a bunch. The MSA is a Conservation Organization much like Trout Unlimited. I posted the message on several streams around this area to attract persons with similar interests. I can see we have some internet Bullies around and name calling is uncalled for and not very family friendly.
  9. This is not really about Fly Fishing in General but I am sure some of you also fish for Smallmouths with a Flyrod. Take a look and see if you might be interested as we are just starting this Chapter. We have started a Chapter of the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance here in the Southwestern part of the state. We are looking for members that love to fish Smallmouths on area rivers and streams and would like to promote better Smallmouth Fishing through Conservation and stream improvements. If any of you are interested give me a heads up and we will see about getting you signed up. Send me an e-mail at glange@cebridge.net. Take a look at the MSA website and get an idea of what we are all about. http://www.missourismallmouthalliance.org/MSA/Welcome.html

  14. I will get things figured out and see about setting up a meeting somewhere. I would like to do it on a weekday evening so that it doesn't get in those that want to fish over the weekends way.

  22. I am not sure of a couple of them are on here. I was looking for you Chief any reason other then a beautiful day to go fishing?
  23. That is what I told Matt. If it would have been when the weather was 25 degrees below normal we would have had a better turn out. I still hope that this can get off the ground and get a chapter going.
  24. The meeting held today at the Library Center in Springfield was very interesting and informative. However, I was disappointed in the turnout of folks that posted and interest and had a lot to say and many questions but didn't show up. We need a lot more members to be a viable voice in Southwestern Missouri. Thanks to Matt and the others for coming down and giving a small presentation on the MSA and giving us and opportunity to meet with you and discuss the SWMSA Chapter. I hope that it gets off the wishing table and becomes reality. If you truly want to help make Missouri become a world class Smallmouth fishery join the MSA and lets get some meeting set up and talk about it.
  25. I bet it was warmer this time last year then it is this year. No wonder you always told me to fish Shell Kno of Cape Fair Tim.
