I caught all of them today on a weightless fluke. There was a a big hole under a rope swing that i basically dead-drifted/twitched it through. I was surprised how aggressive they were hitting it. It was a lot of fun today...I needed it!

Thanks for all the advice fellas! Couldn't take it anymore and went out on a creek close to my house...caught 7 of these...no smallies, but fun nonetheless!

Thanks guys! That's what I'm looking for! The 3 lures for the different columns makes a lot of sense. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed! Starting simple and working up from there is great...and great for my wallet!

Hello All... Wanted to get your input on tackle selection. I live in SWMO and am putting together my gear for this year. I want to fish the streams in the area, and am admittedly pretty new to fishing for smallmouth, and especially new to fishing from watercraft.... So...what would you recommend? Any info would be appreciated...hooks, plastics, lures, whatever you think I should get! Chief Grey Bear gave me some great advice last week...it was kind of like trying to drink from a firehose! Whole lotta great info from him. (Thanks Chief!) I think I remember enough to get started, but thought I'd throw this out there and have something in writing from other knowledgeable fellas. Hello fellow anglers... I'm a noob to this site, and am looking for a boat of some sort to fish SWMO this year. I've floated a few times, but have borrowed boats from friends, but haven't really tried fishing & floating. I have waded around a little here in the area...but really want to get in and on the water this year. SO...I've looked at several angling kayaks since I'll typically be going solo, but would appreciate any input you'd be willing to give as far as the type of craft I'd need. I figured I'd post here since I'm in the Joplin area and it seems a lot of posters here are from around there. Shoal is a place I've wanted to float but haven't had the chance yet... It seems I always start dreaming of getting on the water around this time of year...the warmer temps and mild winter (thus far!) have made it even worse! Have really enjoyed this site for the last few days...just watching from a distance thus far... thanks fellas... nate
