  1. No, that is being brilliant.
  2. The new deck was an excellent addition. It made for a lot less dirt getting tracked in and a sweet place to sit and to store stuff off the ground. Nice work. The bacon was supposed to be used each time to patch any holes we put in the boat. Do a google search for bacon chines sometime and let me know what you come up with. It is amazing the difference between 300cfs and 700 cfs, especially for rookies. We appreciate your patience with us Justin, and just another reason I so fully endorse Sunburst Ranch.
  3. Luckily the first fish in that beautiful boat was a nice healthy wild rainbow as opposed to that stocker brown Eric caught. Ha! My jealousy shows. We did have a tough weekend fishing but still put some decent fish in the boat overall. The sheer number of stonefly adults, nymphs and shucks we saw would have made you think the fish would be going crazy, but they were pretty finicky for us. Thanks again to Justin and Amy at Sunburst. They were awesome as usual. I highly recommend Sunburst as a base camp for your NFOW adventures. Justin, I hope you all enjoyed the bacon. As far as that sweet skiff Eric picked up goes, we did the Dead Drift Yatch Club for a year to start figuring out the whole drift boat thing, and I really would suggest it to anyone considering buying a boat or just wanting to learn a really awesome way to fish the river. We took the Headhunter and the Hyde this weekend and they were both great. If Matt or Justin from Topeka are out there it sure would be great if you posted a picture of that amazing rainbow you picked up.
  4. thanks for the update
  5. BTW, if you were turning some decent fish that is half the fun. I think Justin promised that he would eliminate 90% of the traffic on the river for us. That is what keeps us coming back.
  6. please tell me the barb was crimped. That pic makes me cringe.
  7. Is there some reason that the park couldn't post a no brown trout limit once the water in the river below the park reaches a temperature that causes the browns to move up into the park? The people that work at Montauk are not stupid and they know when the browns move up to beat the heat. It might save a lot of trophy fish from being harvested in a short amount of time when they are extremely vulnerable. I have read about regulations in other states and they can be far more complicated than they are here in Missouri. I am sure that people would be able to understand a sign that says there is a no harvesting brown trout rule in effect. That seems like it might be an even better way of protecting a trophy fishery than a limit of one whether it be 18" or 20". Just my thoughts on the subject.
  8. I use the double edge razor blade, and it does make all the difference. I just seem to lack that thing that tells you to stop. In an effort to get it just right I end up over trimming it and end up with pin headed flies. That is why I use wool more often now. I have more self control with that somehow. Either way, great looking flies and I will keep trying. Enjoy
  9. Be sure to post a report. I am heading down that way with a few buddies in two weeks and it will be nice to hear how it is fishing. Sweet looking flies. I wish I could make my deer hair look that good. Good Luck!
  10. That is too awesome. Nicely done. I imagine that was pretty exciting on a 5wt.
