  1. I should have shown my 7 footers in there. I criss-cross them and it works great. short rods in the middle and long rods diagonal.
  2. I wanted a fishing rod rack for my topper, but I didn't want to drill any holes in it. I looked for products in stores and on-line and didn't find a thing.So..... I came up with this idea. Welding is required, but maybe this will give someone an idea on design and use wood or PVC. Anyway......The best part about this rack, is the fact that it is strong enough to use as a utility rack. I hang groceries, hunting gear, clothes, lantern, etc... on it. Love this thing. It's my 4th one that I built over the years (my friends wanted one in theirs too). Check it out! https://youtu.be/32MS_l25OHU
  3. I've had 2 or 3 different portable fly tying benches over the years. The thing I like about this one is the fact that it can be closed which will contain a lot of the essentials. The other thing I like is the price. I find these boxes for less than $10.
  4. Oldie but a goodie. I will buy every single one of these as I find them. Garage sales, flea markets......etc. I've made 3 so far. The best bench I've ever traveled with. https://youtu.be/kN1GkscmOCY
  5. This marinade soothes the 'over-fishy-flavor" of trout as well. Trout that has been in the freezer that is. I only like trout FRESH. if I store it, I definitely marinade it in this (strong solution for 3 days). I don't know what is in the crab boil, but I do know, it doesn't take a lot of it. this stuff will clear your sinuses! If anyone has a recipe for this stuff, let me know. I'm a DIY kind of guy.
  6. I catch a lot of LMB, however, I don't care for the taste of it. I'm finding that most folks I know think it has a gamey / pondwater /mossy taste. I agree! I came up with a marinade that kills the gamey flavor, and now Me, my wife, & kids enjoy eating what we once couldn't stand. I made a video and put it on you tube. Let me know what you think.
  7. Gravois arm on 4/24. 8 hours of fishing..... My buddy and I caught a total of 6 crappie. We fished everything in the box. Fished deep, shallow, docks, brush, stickups, ..... Everything. Yet still better than being at work
  8. I came up with a very inexpensive and easy way to make slip bobbers for fishing. After pricing large slip bobbers, I decided to come up with a way that wouldn't break the bank. I made a video on how to make them and posted it on you tube. I used a coffee straw and a swim noodle to create this bobber. The position of the straw in the video is totally up to you. This is how I like to fish this....it floats the way that is most desirable to me. however, the straw can be placed vertically (through the wall) if you want. I like it placed cross-section. Hope you enjoy this.... and if you like it, please send it to your buddies. You can make many of these at a fraction of the price of a store-bought large slip bobber.
  9. After trying panty hose and string over the years, I've come up with a NO FAIL method for keeping liver on my hooks. I made a video and put it on You Tube for instructions. Feel free to share the video with all our fishing family. enjoy!
  10. Mounting anything in a jon boat can be a challenge, esp with no console or ledges to mount to. I really wanted to mount my fishfinder on something that looked better than the usual 'rigged-up' 'block of wood' that rots over time. I made a mount that I'm very pleased with. It looks and works great! I made a You Tube video on how I did it. Let me know what you think. The cost was less than $10.
  11. I made cooler for my belly boat. Thought others might appreciate it. I made a video on how I put it together and put it on you tube. see below if interested. It works really well! Buddies all wanted one, so I just give them the link on how to make one. enjoy!
  12. I made a homemade fly rod carrier due to the high prices of the ones at the store. I've been using it for years, and it works great. I can comfortably haul 4 fly rods on this one. I get a lot of folks at the trout parks checking it out. Hopefully this will help others learn how to make one. My buddies wanted me to make them one, so I put instructions on you tube so they can make their own. Share this video with other fly fishing brothers and sisters. enjoy!
