  1. "Where on tenkiller do you fish? Are you using a boat? I live in tahlequah and have been looking for new places to chase carp." The shoreline at chicken creek campground and around the islands. When the carp are in the shallows they are thick in these areas. Just wade around slowly and quietly and watch for fish. I usually find them in late June through august.
  2. I fish alot of carp in the summer on Tenkiller , lots of fun and a real challange . I agree that water clarity is a big issue as carp will seldom move-to or chase their prey far from where they are tailing . On tenkiller I use a black krystal wooley bugger and leading the fish by a few feet I cast past the fish and retrieve untill in front of the fish. From there I'll let the fly drop to the bottom and wait for the tailing carp to swim close to where the fly fell. Start a very slow, steady, crawling retrieve at this point and if you feel any pressure on the line lift your rod . If you hooked up then hang on if not then try again .
  3. I noticed the water has been down the last few days and wondered if anyone has made it to the river. Any reports?
  4. I haven't seen a day with low enough water to wade safely for about 3 weeks (and the wife has had me buisy re-modeling the bathroom :-(
  5. I fished the pso hole sunday night from 8:00 to about 9:00 pm . Not much luck there, only one small stripe . From 9 to 10 I moved to the spillway gates and started catching big female sandies 2-4 lbs. Hooked 1 big striper but lost it pretty quick . It ran downriver and rolled a few times before the hook pulled free . All I got was a scale . Going to try again on Tuesday night from 7:30 to 10 at night . Water should be right if they follow the schedule .
  6. water has been to high to wade for the last 2 weeks or so . They opened Keystone and seem to be matching outflow to what's coming in . Keeping the pool low for the spring I guess . Gonna try to hit it hard when the water comes back down .
  7. jigs . chart. twirl-tails with white head . looked to be about 3 inches long . the guy was standing on the platform over the spillway gates casting into the lefthand current seam looking down-river and using a steady med-slow retrieve . when he caught a fish he just hauled it up 20 ft to the platform so i'm sure he was using 10lb or heavier mono line or possably braid . The dude caught 4 keepers in the 30 minuets I watched him which was kinda funny because it was driving the 6 orientals fishing down river nuts . No matter how deep they waded they still couldn't cast into the hole he was fishing and by the 4th fish they were standing chest deep and shoulder to shoulder trying .
  8. fished clouser minnows blue/white, chart/white . deep slow retrieve . Was hoping to hook a few sauger because I had seen a few caught the previous weekend . Was surprised to get into the stripes .
  9. Noticed they ran the water a few days last week so my brother and I went Monday afternoon to try for a few fish . Got on the water about 4:30 pm and fished untill dark . My first fish of the day was a decent 3lb striper and the rest of the day consisted of about 20-1lb schoolies, a few decent hybrid and 2 foul hooked carp . We only fished the PSO hole from the jetty to the wave park so we did well and didn't cover much water at all . Wanted to throw the info out there in case anyone else has cabin fever and wonders if it's worth wetting your waders .
