  1. Speaking of odd places to find mushrooms.
  2. They were hitting everything last night, there were a few guys doing pretty good with white roostertails during the day I was throwing chartreuse swimming minnows.
  3. Me and a buddy put my canoe in at Blunks this evening and paddled up to the shoal we fished from about 8:30 to 10:30 we ended up keeping 30 and probably threw back just as many they really took off after dark.
  4. These were found along the James river under sycamores and a few around a big dead elm.
  5. Found a few this morning but I was following a couple guys who had twice what I found each but they got there at 6:00 this morning I didnt make it down till 8:00.
  6. You were a little late they have either moved on up or back down I saw a few rolling last night but not like they were last week.
  7. Lol
  8. I don't know how much help this map will be but if you get lost just ask someone. Instead of turning right to go down to the old ramp keep on the main road and go past where it hangs a sharp right then go straight and it will turn to gravel you can follow that all the way to the river.
  9. Yea I kept it barley fit in the CRV I usually release them or give them away but im going to try smoking this one I threw back a short fish and a 35 lb one today.
  10. You can make it to blunks fine just dont go up past the ramp. They are stacked up about 3/4 mi below blunks right now.
  11. They were still rolling in the bend today. I was mushroom hunting though.
  12. Look up the false morel they look way different then the ones you want to eat but people have mistakenly picked them. I usually just wash them in a noodle strainer cut them in half soak in salt water for a few hrs to tender them and get rid of bugs and then dip in egg then flour fry to golden brown and salt them.
  13. Found these today and I left probably twice as many that were only pinky sized .
  14. I find mine in soft river/creek bottoms usually around sycamore trees.
  15. I found 30 or so today mostly small finger sized grey's.
  16. I use a 9 ft heavy-duty spinning rod with 80-100lb braid and two 10/0-12/0 trebble hooks set about 18 inches apart and a 6oz weight another 18in below that. If im in a place that has a lot of snags or is hard to cast a long two hook rig I will use just one hook.
  17. I caught this one off the bank on friday in MCcord bend. They are thick about half a mile below blunks right now if we get some muddy water with this rain they will start running up the river more you could probly get on them at blunks any day now if you can keep from getting hung up.
  18. Me and a buddy fished the shoal tonight both limited and caught 10 more on the float back to the ramp. I caught my eyes on white sliders and an A rig tonight I was using purple swimming minnows.
  19. Ive caught 4-5 shorts and a buddy caught a 22 in eye a little below Taylor's
  20. They are spawning now the day bite sucks but last night 9:30-10:30 we caught 30.
  21. It was a little slow today but as soon as it got dark they hit pretty good at the shoal above blunks.
  22. The rock bank below blunks has been pretty good the past few days sows are finally making it up there a rig is the only thing really producing we have been using the flash mob jr with either white or blue thunder swimming minnows.
  23. Walk the trail down past the creek just below the flat rocks at blunks as far down as you care to either really early in the morning around daylight or late in the evening we've been doing pretty good on A Rigs all white or white rooster tails and a few on olive x raps.
  24. You may get into them at Blunks but you would be best off walking down stream to where the power line crosses the river.
  25. I like the innards for channel cats.
