  1. Last time I was on Taney, I caught a trout, removed the fly, tossed it in the water beside me, and released the trout. Next thing I know I've got a 20 inch bow on the other end.... Am I a shuffler??? :unsure I put shufflers right down there with crack dealers. Actually, I think I'd get along with a crack dealer better than a shuffler. Shuffling is bad enough but snagging and foul hooking the fish at your feet is dead wrong. I guess these people shuffle because they won't let them fish in the holding tanks at the hatchery...
  2. First, this is an awesome site just the way it is. I think Phil has done a wonderful job. Some posts may be called drama, but I feel they bring more to the site than what is the hot fly of the day, or hot area at the time. Some of the posts prompt me to think about so much more than just what I can go catch a few fish on. I enjoy hearing everyones opinions about keeping or releasing fish, or should you land a fish that has been foul hooked, or should a fly pattern be copied or not, etc.... There is so much more to our sport than what to tie on the end of that 6x. I too love a good fishing report, but it's the extra you get on this site that makes it so great!!! Just my opinion
  3. I mainly fish just south of Prattville out of Millers Ferry. About 6 years ago we fished a tourney in early March on the Alabama and the winners had 5 spots that weighed over 25lbs. Crazy!!! You gotta love those Alabama and Coosa River Spots!!! I've caught my biggest spots below the Millers Ferry dam, in the tailwaters.
  4. Never fished Paul B Johnson either. I mainly fish in Alabama on the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway and the Alabama river. I visit Ross Barnett and Pickwick a good bit also.
  5. An article was published about this incident on Oct. 4th on the Miss. State Dept. of Wildlife website. I don't want to mention any names, but his initials were, Matthew Martin... What an idiot... He was paid $175 to dispose of the fish and it cost him $500 in fines and $250 for dirt work to bury the fish.... We sure grow some sharp ones down here!!! Never fished Flint creek, but if I hear a report, I'll let you know....
  6. I'm from Meridian Mississippi, but hope to move up there one day!
  7. Hello Everyone, I'm coming up from Mississippi around Nov. 3rd. I always come up in the spring and have had some great trips, but this will be my first trip in the fall. I will be fishing for bass. Any thoughts on what the fish will be doing three weeks from now? I know a great deal depends on the weather. Most reports I'm reading have fish very deep still. Will colder weather move the shad to the shallower bays and coves??? What are some of the better fall patterns in early November??? I fish the Baxter and Kimberling areas mostly in the spring, which are the best areas in the fall? Lastly, I have a Lowrance X-17 on the front of my boat. What sensitivity levels and ping speeds work the best for vertical fishing 30-50 foot deep on Table Rock. Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Steve My best smallmouth from my trip this last May!!!
  8. Hello Everyone, First let me say what a wonderful site this is.... Thanks everyone. I have followed the posts on this site for about a year now and finally decided to become a member. I am from Mississippi and come up about twice every year to fish Table Rock and Taneycomo. Coming up again around Nov. 5th. Hopefully the bass fishing will still be hot.
