And I guess lastly, any tips for fishing any of the lakes? It sounds like I'll need a fish finder for sure as the structure isn't really visible. You throw a lot of crankbaits? Deep run spinnerbaits or maybe try some dropshotting around submerged structure?

I don't think that clear water would really be a deterrent for me, it just sounds like you'll have to fish a bit deeper. Anyone do any catfishing out there?

I suppose I should ask you one more question then -- I'm looking to pick up a small boat -- I found one in my price range that has front and rear trolling motors but no outboard. With that said, will I be able to find bass in the smaller lakes, as I'm not sure some of the larger lakes would be all that great on a boat with no outboard. . .? I know there are several likes with 10hp limits and some that don't allow outboards at all. I believe I'll be picking up the property over the weekend but I don't want to get the boat if it wouldn't make a good boat for the lakes.

Thank you for the great replies everyone. My story is that I live in St. Louis county and I'm tired of being a weekend warrior with 50 other boats and 1,000 shore fisherman at the likes of Busch Wildlife. I have the opportunity to pick up a lot for cheap, but I was wondering if it was worth having to pay the dues and assessment if the fishing was terrible. I've got a small boat (just trolling motors up front and in back), so I could definitely putt around on the smaller ones. Thanks again and if you have more stories, keep them coming!
