  1. How far down the James do the snaggers usually go?
  2. This is the jighead I have used in the past. I am by no means experienced throwing the grub, but I have caught several fish on it. I always used 8lb fluoro but you guys are making me think that I need to go to 6. The jigheads are inexpensive and I seem to hook the fish I have caught pretty well. Haven't had one straighten the hook, yet. This is good info for me and I appreciate you feedback. I only get about one trip per Spring to TRock, so I just want to make sure I have a good gear set up. I have complete confidence that you guys have figured up the best setup by now. Speaking of straightened hooks, several years back while fishing in the Kings I hooked into a good fish with a Lucky Craft jerkbait. Never saw the fish...never even turned it. It was taking drag hard and I made the mistake of putting my thumb on the spool to slow it. It pulled off and when I got my jerkbait back in, one of the trebles was straightened out. That fish still haunts me.
  3. That makes me feel better, then. I have used some cheap ones in the past, and they seemed to work ok. They have a pretty light wire hook on them which is great for getting unhung, but I always worry about straightening on big fish.
  4. Hey Bill...mind if I ask what type of head you like for your grubs?
  5. Good info Bitethis...Thanks!
  6. Anyone have any experience with the congestion at the Hwy123 ramp in Aldrich during the weekend? How bad is it?
  7. I understand. Nothing like tying $30 on the end of a line with several bare hooks and dragging it around waiting for it to get hung up. darn thing will catch'em like nothing else at times, though.
  8. Thanks for the info redsoxwschamp and 9lb. C-Rig, jig, and shallow cranks are all "go to" baits for me, so that sounds promising. I am curious about 9lbs's comment about the A-Rig being illegal on Stockton, though. I was aware of the regulations in Missouri that only allow 3 hooks with the rest being dummies, but never heard of it being outlawed all together. Don't get me wrong, it would make everyone's lives simpler if they did outlaw it...
  9. I'm gonna be bass fishing this weekend in the Little Sac and I was thinking about fishing around the Aldrich area. I was hoping I might be able to get a heads up on a few things: What is the best ramp to put in at close to Aldrich taking into account the heavy use the ramps are seeing right now? (Hwy 123, High Point, Cedar Ridge) What is the water temp/color like up there right now? Anyone been having any success with bass in that area? Also, I have been hearing about some good fish being caught on the ARig at Stockton within the last couple weeks. Is that still working or is that bite over? Stockton is one of my favorite lakes, but I only make it one weekend a year and I would like to hit the water running! Thanks for you help!!
  10. Good info 9LB! Thanks for sharing! Looks like water is on the rise again...guess we will see how that changes things. Can anyone comment on water color? I am mainly curious about water color around the dam area and maybe around State Park Ramp.
  11. Thanks for the info, Brad. My trip isn't until next weekend, but I will be sure to post how it goes. I am fully expecting the fish to be mostly post spawn. My buddy and I love to fish C-rigs, so we will probably start out rigging points and see if we can find some post spawners. With the expected rain, if lake levels go on the rise again we may have to spend some time pitching the bushes. Based on your info, sounds like I shouldn't rule out the spinnerbaits and cranks. Anyone heard of anyone using that new Alabama Rig at Stockton? I know some guys that supposedly hammered the bass at Lake Ozark with it.
  12. Thanks for the responses. I appreciate the detailed advice SixString. I can't wait until next weekend! I heard someone else talking about moss. What is up with that? Is it all over the lake?
  13. Sounds like a blast! Mind if I ask what area of the lake you were catching the bass? What were us using besides spooks? What water depth and type of structure were you fishing? I will be fishing there next weekend. Anything you feel like sharing is appreciated!!
  14. Hi guys and gals! I am new to Ozark Anglers and I am very impressed with what I have seen so far! I am looking for some help planning an upcoming bass trip next weekend(5/4-5/6). My buddy and I usually go to Stockton once a year and we really enjoy it. Seems like we usually figure 'em out by the end, but it would be great if we could get a "head start" this year. Any info on areas of the lake that are good, techniques, water conditions, etc would be very appreciated. In the past we have fished mid and lower lake, but we will go where we need to catch the bigger bass. Do you think they will be post spawn at that time? Thanks again for your help!
