yes we were on turnback above 160. I will even go as far as to say white was the preferred color. Had a few hits on chartreuse nothing on smoke colored grubs
Also most of the fish were caught on the West Bank when the lure landed about a foot off the bank
Fished out of greenfield access today got on the water a little after 9 and loaded the boat a little after 3. We caught 43 whites all keepers all male 2 walleye 19 3/4 “ and 22” and a very large lake sucker. Best fishing was during the rain in the afternoon
I was across it on 160 Thursday morning. Not completely chocolate but definitely light brown. It is not as high as you might think with all the rain. I was above the bridge (south or upstream) in early January and could not get to the sharp corner because of low water and a tree across the creek. That may have changed since then
How far is it from cooper down to the landing? Other than Scottys is there any other place to launch on that stretch of water?
Thanks in advance
Riverman
Turn back is located east of Greenfield on 160. You can put a kayak in at the 160 bridge and fish up or down from there although it is pretty skinny just below the bridge right now. You might also look at the "O" hwy bridge
Got to go to cc tonight. We didn't get on the water till around 5 and fished till dark. We caught 5 keeper whites 6-8 small whites 2 nine inch crappie and 6-8 large mouth the biggest was 16 inches.
As a law abiding gigger I can say that it has never been my intent to find a school of bass and kill as many as I can. I do understand that there are still some who believe if it swims it dies. As for the fish left on a ramp I would be willing to bet that the person or persons who left them were trying to prove a point to local agents. More than likely they were already ticketed for another violation and this is there way to (pardon the pun) stick it to the man.
There were probably 8-10 parking spots not under water. As of Sunday the toilet was was still dry. We actually motored between the light at the left edge of the parking lot and the end of the lot to enter the main lake.
I launched in the CC parking lot Sunday afternoon. I didn't encounter a lot of debree floating in the lake. We went up Turnback all the way to Fiddlers Ford. There were some logs and trash floating in the river but nothing that was terrible concerning.
I am looking at coming down to Mt Shiria on Friday evening. How does the water look. Is it still stained or has it started to clear up.
thanks for any help
Matthew
I don't mean to sound stupid, but can you eat the fish out of the James. I have always heard the stories of high levels of different things in the water and was just curious. I am looking at a trip around the Blunk access in October. Thanks for any help.
