We usually put in at River Ranch at go up any info would be great. If you happen to be down there Thursday we should ready to fry fish between 9 and 10 Thanks Riverman
  2. ryan... if the amount of shots I heard saturday morning while black powder hunting is any indication yes the birds are moving... it was pretty consistant from sunrise until around 9am or so...
  3. I am looking to replace the outboard on my 18'52" exterminator by legendcraft. I currently have a three valve Johnson "40" jet with 70 carbs. I am looking to go lighter and better fuel economy. I have ran the 4strokes and like the quitness of them but the weight factor is a killer. the motor that really has my attention is the Evinrude E-tec. I would like to put a 60 on the boat. does any one out there have any advice, pro's or cons one way or the other. thanks. Rivrman
  4. MoCarp, I figure we usually gig 50-60 times a year. that number is way down so far this year for a couple of reasons. The first one is that I totaled my boat on the Niangua the day before season opened, I just got a new one in a week or so ago. The second reason is lack of water this year. The place we usually go on the Big Sac has about an 18" drop from the end of the ramp to the water, not many gravel bars to launch from around here. sometimes when we are feeling energetic we will travel down to Noel and gig the Elk.
  5. I was getting tired of the noise from my old generator saved my pennies and got a Honda EU2000 We don't even notice it running now. It puts out around 60 decibles of sound the human voice speaks at around 86
  6. I have never seen car halogens used for a gigging light I would be worried that it would cast to narrow a beam. I have used 55 watt halogen bulbs mounted on a piece of polished stainless similar to the ones used with propane lights. depending on the size of boat you are in 4 bulbs will usually get the job done. I have also seen guys take 100 watt halogens and warm them up on a 12 volt and then jump it up to 18 volts and nearly double the amount of light out-put.
  7. MoCarp, I live in Greenfield. Thats on the South end of Stockton Lake. Where are you at?
  8. There is another gig on the market that I have used called "The Ozark Sucker Plucker." They are made in Steelville, Mo. I bought mine at Roams Hardware in Van Buren. As for the changing of lights from Halogin. I have an 18'52" exterminator that I run two 150 watt hi densety sodium lights on. they give off more lumins than 1500 watt of halogin. I do most of my gigging on the Big Sac below the Stockton Dam or on the Spring River near Carthage, the advantage of these lights is they penetrate the cloudy water we encounter majority of the time better than the halogin lights.
