Thanks for the information. These are those things I should have paid attention to when I was a child. Both sets of my grandparents lived at Pomme when I was growing up. I am sure both grandpas explained this to me when they took me fishing, I just chose not to listen. I am familiar with the lake, just did not know what was considered up and lower.
When reading fishing reports, I am seeing references to the upper end and lower end. Can someone explain to me where this invisible dividing line might be.
Thanks in advance.
Duck - I keep telling her it is her fish. She says she couldn't have done it without me. But I consider it her catch.
Mitch - conservation agent told me that Blue Springs Lake does not have stripers in it, only has hybrid striped. The Missouri State Record is 20.5 and the world record is 27.5 - at least from what I found from looking on the net.
According to the Conservation officer that checked the fish out, its a hybird striped bass. When I first pulled it into the boat, like you I thought is a fat striper. As far as landing it without it stripping all the line, all I can say is I am thankful for the trolling motor and the fish just making a short run and wearing out.
Wife and I were out fishing this past Saturday at Blue Springs crappie fishing. We were letting the wind blow us down the bank. She had a pole rigged up with a minnow, small hook and bobber laying on the back of the boat while casting with another pole. We were in 5 feet of water and she yells that she is hung up. I start to turn the boat around and see the line just running out to the middle of the lake - I told her she had a fish. She handed me the pole while she reeled her other one in, I chase the fish half way across the lake before the fish finally gives up.
Offical weight, 19lbs 9 ounces. 1 pound shy of the Missouri State Hybird Striped Bass record. The fish is in the freezer waiting to be mounted.
Anyone have an current fishing report for bass at Pomme? Debating on visiting Lake of Ozarks or Pomme tomorrow. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone have a current fishing report for the Gravios Mills Arm? Wife and I are looking to fish on Saturday, looking for input on where the best place might be to go. We are new to Lake of the Ozarks. Normally fish Pomme.
